Congratulations, guys! We've followed you since your S/V Honeymoon days and always loved your videos - you really started this whole sailing/vlogging trend - look how far it has come! I think after 5 or 6 years you'll be looking at adding more time - this is the best thing you could possibly do for yourselves and your kids - they will be so worldly, and gain such amazing social skills, learn about so many new places and cultures, and probably end up on boats themselves when they are older. Ive followed and enjoyed you from the start. I'm now looking forward to a new and not so common Kids cruising on boats adventure. I cruised with a 10yr old boy who was dependable as most men by 12yrs. His cruising experience resulted in him managing charter companies to super yachts. He is now semi retired in his early fifties with memories that we dream of. I think you're giving your boys a great start; it's not all plain sailing but the rewards are for ever.

Looks like the start of an incredible journey. I have many times thought about what the right age for the kids to go on a journey like this may be, and I can see many benefits of starting young and others of being a bit older. About the only negative of younger kids is not being able to get them to stand watch on passages.

Yes, good comment. We debated raising kids on our last boat, but felt it was too dangerous and not healthy for their development. But when to go back was a question we debated greatly. In the end we waiting till all of them could swim well and get to an age where they can hopefully remember the trip. But not too old that they missed their friends and needed independence. We might have left too late - but we got it close! :)
