My husband and I have done BIAY twice and today we start on our 3rd reading of the Bible with Fr. Mike. We are doing both BIAY and CIAY this year. 🙏

Father Mike, today is November 1st, 2024. I just finished The Bible in a Year yesterday. I am being brought closer to God. I will begin BIAY 2024 on January 1st, 2025. I am old and have serious memory issues, so learning the Bible has been very difficult for me. I don't remember hardly anything about it, but I will do it for the rest of my life. I have returned to the Catholic church. I go do daily mass now. YOU are the one that convinced me to return to church. I thank God for you.❤

I had started the Catechism in a Year last year. All was going great until my husband suddenly passed the last Sunday in May when we had started our vacation. My life was in turmoil and so many things had to be taken care of that I lost the time for my daily CIY. I am starting again knowing that God is with me and guiding me and that Fr Mike is leading me daily with the CIY and also the BIY. My son is doing the BIY. His youngest daughter is so excited about he and his wife doing this! He had some setbacks helping me with all of the tasks that I needed help with my husband's passing and his work schedule. God bless him-- he picks up on the day that he left off and he is continuing God is good and so very understanding and I know that he has a sense of humor especially when people like me start over-- He is there cheering me on to continue!

I decided to watch this series bc I came upon an old college book called the catechism of the catholic church that I found when boxing for a move. I had it from a forced western civ class I took at Providence College. I pray it answers more questions for me esp in our differing beliefs. thanks for creating these in a down to earth manner. Protestant my entire life! Mama to 11, and I joined the Catholic Church 15 years ago. Joined and, up until 5 years ago, was back in a portent church. Why I questioned everything still, and no one ever had a clear answer. I still knew nothing about the faith, only the basics. As a protestant, I never found the time to read the Bible cover to cover. Now the Catechism in a year! Up until a few years ago, I never even opened my CC. I knew nothing about it! Now, because of the Catholic Church, My Spiritual Director, Father Mike Schmitz, and Ascension, I will finally finish the Bible in a Year and go through the entire CC for the first time! I am not Catholic but have been thinking things over. It is a very long and strange story. I was wondering what this was so I plan to listen. It matches what I believe. In fact when I decided to go to church again the verse that really stuck out was when you seek me you will find me. You know the whole Jeremiah verse. And now I was reading the breaking of bread was two fold. During worship service and in other peoples home in a nonorganized manner. That reminded of a book I read called Why Did Jesus Cross the Road. (You cross into each others lives) So like the going out part. It is where I am right now.

Fr. Mike, it is difficult not to feel God's providence in the timing of this podcast. As our beloved emeritus Holy Father approaches Heaven's gates, may your voice allow his voice and theological insight, which permeate the CCC, to be more widely known to a world starving for truth.

For the last two years, my family of 10 (2 parents, 7 kids, and 1 Baptist in-law!) have been reading through the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) several paragraphs at a time after dinner. We are constantly amazed at the brilliant formulations of the faith found throughout the CCC (so far). Each night, we try to memorize as a family at least one line, especially those that provide the "blueprint" of the section we are in. One of our family favorites: "Because the Holy Spirit is the anointing of Christ, it is Christ who, as the head of the body, pours out the Spirit among his members to nourish, to heal, to organize them in their mutual functions, to give them life, send them to bear witness, and associate them to his self-offering to the Father and to his intercession for the whole world" (CCC739) Keep listening closely to Fr. Mike, and you'll hear sentences like that all the time. The CCC is a profound gift to the Church. May God richly bless Fr. Mike and the entire team at Ascension for making it more accessible. God bless you all!

So many who call themselves catechists don't know about the catechism, this is why people are not believing in the eucharist because the teachers of the church don't even know or don't even teach the truth. The church must promote it and teach its teachers. Thank you all for joining this new journey with me I'll pray for all of you. Fr. I have never seen a catechism book before let alone know what’s in it. It didn’t even occur to me that I could get hold of a catechism book to be honest. Anyway, thanks to Fr Mike and all those involved in producing this much needed podcast we are able to finally know the finer details of what our Catholic Church teaches us in a way that’s easy for us to learn. The New St. Joseph Baltimore Catechism No. 1 is an excellent Catechism for children. In my parish it is used until grade 6. The upper grades use the second book. It is easily found online or at a local Catholic bookstore.

Awesome! Amen! ❤️ Yes Father, please pray for me and my children to return to the church. For my daughters to get confirmed and for my son to go through faith formation at 17 because he's only been baptized Catholic and never went through faith formation to make the other sacraments. For I am a cradle catholic that went through CCD but as an adult, I got away from the church. There was a period of time that I was FAR away from the church. My girls made all sacraments except confirmation though. Please pray for our return as I go through The Catechism In a year with you. Then Bible In a year! I'm not sure what prayers we need. But we need them. I'll be praying for you too Father Mike!

Thank you for this Fr Mike! I’ve been looking forward to starting this ever since I heard about it. When I was in grad school I was messaging this girl through Catholic Match and we got caught up talking about the faith, and she told me that she thought I would make a good Chatechism teacher. I guess I thought that was a pretty cool compliment, but the thing was, I hadn’t even opened up a Chatechism since high school. I wouldn’t have known where to begin. That’s why I’m greatful for this program. I’m hoping it will give me a greater understanding of the Catholic Faith, what we believe, and why we believe it; essentially building on what the Bible in a year did for me last year. And then when I complete the program in 364 days, I’ll be able to do a good job of spreading that faith to others and defending it from detractors. To everyone else joining me on this journey, thank you!
