Day 10: Flagstaff, AZ to Holbrook, AZ

Today we were back on the road after the rest day, and headed to Holbrook. It was a flat stage (other than the massive descent at the beginning), but 95 miles is still 95 miles. Along the way we passed through Winslow, which was a lot of fun!

@@alanscyclingadventures4945 Looks like you rolled over into a new set. What tires you running? I had good luck with the Schwalbe marathons, but when you did get a flat, the effort to change a tube was enough to go back to some good tires and fix flats more often.

@jayobannon5359 Crossroads recommended getting a new set of Gatorskins for the trip, so I went with that. At orientation they gave us pointers and a demonstration on how to get the tire on and off. I used to struggle with it, but using their method makes it MUCH easier. No flats today, but then we didn’t spend the whole day on I-40 either. Riding the shoulder of the Interstate, it’s pretty much impossible to avoid all the debris. Plus, it’s the little steel wires that the truck tires shed when they come apart that is the real enemy, and you really can’t even SEE those things!
