I read in the tree of yoga how with practice and time, effort becomes joy. This is my 7th year joining and it has felt like the biggest gift to get a chance to come here every day. Effort has become joy. Time for self-study, growth, challenge, exploration and joy. Even in the asanas that I want to give up on I feel so much satisfaction from pushing through and proving to myself I can be disciplined. The only day I struggled to show up on the mat was our rest day (previous years I've struggled many or most days), and that gave me insight in how I move off the mat, that I've had a habit of procrastinating rest. With time the effort to carve out time to rest will turn into joy too. I'm so grateful I get to move with you, learn about myself and find more joy as I do so. Namaste ❤️

I am a therapist and often recommend YWA to my clients. Reading your comments opened up a whole new level of exploration for myself, and my clients as we realized we could hear Adriene’s heartbeat during practice. Bilateral stimulation is a major component of EMDR and trauma informed therapies. I believe the ability to hear her heartbeat throughout practice adds an incredibly useful and grounding component for anyone who has experienced trauma and wants to reconnect their heart, mind and body. Your comment brought tears to my eyes, I am SO happy for everyone else out there who is doing the work in recovery. It's an honor to share that journey with you, stranger. I was just thinking about making a video specifically talking about how YWA has been an important part of my recovery. Since I'm seeing a lot of "I fell behind" comments, I figured I'd pop in and share where I'm at and how I've been approaching this 30 day yoga journey. This is my first time participating in a 30 day yoga journey of any kind, and so I'm doing my best to be gentle with myself and listen to what my body wants and needs, whether that be rest, yoga, a different sort of movement, etc. I used to have a daily practice, but I haven't in years, and so I'm treating this as a way to get myself back into a regular practice. Instead of committing myself to do each day of the journey consecutively, I've been doing each day as I feel ready for it while also being mindful of when my body is open to and up for a challenge. For example, at the beginning, I did three days in a row and then I believe I took three days off. Old me would have shamed myself to high heavens for doing that, but after so long of not moving, I needed the rest so that when I came back for day four, I could actually give it my all. Today, I just finished day 12 and I'm feeling better than ever. I've been doing each day as I feel like it, some days I've even been doing other of Adriene's sequences or other movement such as walking or a body workout with my partner. It's been slow and steady, but I hear that's how you win the race. So long story short, if you're behind on this yoga journey, know you're not alone and that you'll finish it at the exact time you're meant to.

Same here, been doing yoga on and off for a few years, but I just finished day 11 and its january 31. Showing up and listening to what I need is the most amazing feeling ever❤ Lots of love for everyone who is doing this and taking their time for their own process

I just came up with the idea that I will do the YWA practices every day; my modification is that I will do Day 12 for 2-3 days, then move onto Day 13. I decided this yesterday, as I want to extend my commitment >30 days, to 120 days. This way I can help my body gain the flexibility, respect what I can do and be gentle with myself when the poses move too fast for me. It will be a 'win/win'.

Wow, eagle! Thank you, Adriene. I was reflecting yesterday, I had only had 11 days of yoga and already I have noticeable changes in my body- flexibility, strength, balance and mobility. My arms look and feel stronger, the sides of my torso are noticeably stronger, my back and posture are stronger, my balance and strength in some of the flow sequences are getting better and my mystery running injury in my right knee that I've had for months is getting better bit by bit- I can bend that knee more & am regaining strength and flexibility there. This is incredible for 11 days. I am really loving this. First time I've done yoga every single day. I feel so great. Thank you, thank you!!

But my friend reminded me "the most important thing is showing up", so I got on the mat, did a little bit of the start of the routine, then when that got a bit too hard, sat and did my own gentle poses while Adriene did her thing and lay in corpse pose doing some breathing. My yoga today might have looked a lot more like Benji than Adriene but I'm glad I listened to my body and focused on finding what feels good. Cos I did this practise immediately I woke up and I feel excellent. Day 12 done 100%! PS: I'm going to find time to do Day 11 sometime today... i am someone who has resisted structure most of my life. i know it supports me and yet i resist. i made a promise to myself to incorporate healthy habits this year. my kid suggested this 30 day journey. it has been a gift! i am healing stage 4 cancer and i know a yoga practice is so important to my healing. i am LOVING this practice soooo much! i love this community and Adrienne's calm, grounded, loving approach. this morning i did not see day 12 when i opened my computer and panicked!! lol. then i saw day 12!!! the eagle pose, i think it is called was soooooo empowering. i struggle with focus so this practice was so perfect. beautiful healing practice to you all.

Day 13 Focus: "Bring some attitude with you", I didn't know what to feel there, I was just sweating and puffing a bit :D Some nice moves there in this sequence which challenged the abs and the mobility in the hip joint...Brilliant! So so clever, Adriene

When thinking about starting this journey I wondered if I’d be able to still complete the days where I come home from a 12 hour day shift - turns out I very much can, and it’s the perfect way to stretch out and relax after a busy day :) xx

I am loving this journey. My dog and cat often come to join me on the mat and I have to roll out a second one! I think they are gathering all the positive energy! Thanks Adriene!

Aha so do mine and I often think it's because they pick up the positive energy. What a great idea to have that 2nd mat when it gets a little crowded 🤣🥰

Like some other folks here I fell behind after day 11 but I'm happy to be back! Just remember for anyone feeling overwhelmed / wanting to catch up. It doesn't matter if you do it perfectly, as long as you do it ❤️ and listen to your body if you're pushing to catch up. If it says to do two videos at a time go for it! But if you get more out of the journey by doing it one video and one day at a time, you won't be alone in finishing the series a little late. There's a whole lot of us out here with you and I love seeing comments letting me know I'm not alone either. We got this! 🦾

Uff! Those fire-hydrant moves made me swear out loud a few times. But I stuck with it and the practice ended with the usual radiant self-congratulatory glow! Thank you, Adrienne! Yes, I'm on Day 12 still and it's nearly the end of the month but I'm going at my own pace! Xo

A lot of yoga, for me as a beginer, is about focus. On my body, my ming, my breath, my balance, my strenthg. Love the opportunity to practice this time with that concept even more evident to me. Lots of love from Brazil ❤

I put this yoga journey on pause on January 13, 2022. On that day I had a therapy client of mine pass away. I was the one who found my client's body. It was heartbreaking and grief has been heavy the last few days. I have been avoiding getting back on my mat because I knew I would fall apart. Within the first minute of practice today I was sobbing. I moved through this practice and did my best to stay focused. I want to be kind to myself and allow my feelings to come as they are. This is a safe space for me to do that. Thank you Adriene.

YWA Move is unlike other videos. Lots more focus on strengthening, sort of pilates thrown in. I trust Adrienne and have to say, my heart rate is getting up there and my legs are hurting like no other YWA series.

I just called myself a real yogi today because I survived standing on one bended leg with tangled leg and arms. I can't believe I am capable to do such poses. Thank you Adriene for showing me how strong my body is.

I intend to continue with a daily practice after this annual gift is completed. Thank you, Adriene, Benji, Team YWA, and to this community, and you know what. Thank you to me too. ❤️. Namaste. ☮️.

There are times when getting on the mat is harder than others. There are times when a session feels endless. But there are times, like this one, when 24 minutes lasts a second and I'm transported into a bubble of peace that changes the flow of my day. It sounds silly, but yoga changes my life every day.

Today was a great personal win for me. I almost didn't show up. But I've promised myself that this year will be the year when I join AND finish January's yoga journey. I must admit, knowing that I won't be alone at the mat, that someone, maybe across the world will 'meet' me in a downward dog gave me the kick. I guess I didn't fully realize how, after past two years, I miss being in a community. Still working from home, barely able to meet friends as we are doing our best to be responsible & do our part by those small sacrifices, missing my family in another country. When Adriene said at the end of today's practice: 'notice how you feel' - I felt proud of myself to be on the mat 12th day in a row & I felt overwhelming gratitude for being able to join this loving, positive community. I'm quite surprised how moved (sic!) I am today. Wherever you are right now, whatever your struggles are, you are strong & not alone, we can do it, guys

Did you see Benji? His FOCUS was on you when you turned Adriene! He seems so aware...like a human, or...an Angel. My focus was a bit wobbly...not unusual for me. But by the end, when you said to focus on how we bring our hands together, I felt myself shift, gently, yet powerfully. My eyes were closed, and I was connected to every moment of movement...until the touching of finger tips to finger tips, then hand to hand. That never happened before. This journey feels really good. Thank you Adriene for making this for us, and lovingly guiding us to awaken to the awareness of our "one precious life."

I came to the mat unable to focus because my mind was clouded with thoughts of escape. My mind reads the menu of unhealthy coping mechanisms to itself over and over. I buckled down and focussed on my breath and found some serenity in this practice. I do not know how long it will last, but in the deep depression I've been in, a moment of freedom is a powerful spark to follow up and out of the hole. Thanks everyone for the positivity. "quit" is a guest that always arrives too early. Here's to not letting him in.

I just started my third semester of college this week and yesterday one of my professors had us do an exercise where we each told the class about a non-school goal we have for the semester. I told the class that I started doing daily yoga about two weeks ago and my goal is to continue it. My professor got excited and asked if I had ever heard of YWA. I told her that's exactly what I'm doing! Evidently she's done the 30 day challenges for years and we accidently ate up several minutes of class time discussing it. It was a very random, but satisfying, thing to bond over.
