May your word take deep root in our hearts & transform our ways of thinking, deciding, and acting. May your grace open our ears to hear & understand God's voice in the Scriptures that we may revere & treasure both the Old & the New Testaments which God has prepared for all who desire to enter his kingdom. Day 127..I enjoy this kindness David gives to Saul's descendants. Shows what a righteous King he was, at least at this point. It's interesting how some of these men, even though they were Saul's kinsmen, wanted to help David to battle against Saul! Wow, they ended up being like a army of God..epic words and doings. To you, O Lord, I call; be not deaf to me, lest, if you be silent to me, I become like those who go down to the pit..the Lord is my strength and my shield, in him my heart trusts. How do you reconcile the vastness of David's army in 1 Chronicles with archeological evidence? I was curious about the population of Israel during the Old Testament and it sounds like the population was around 1.5 million, but archeological evidence would suggest no more than a few hundred thousand at best. Were the numbers inflated? Was that perhaps conscripts, or counting the baggage trains or family members? Maybe they counted fighting age males as parts of the army.

King David puts Principals above Personalities when dealing with his enemy King Saul and his family. King David chooses to repay evil with good. He honours Jonathans' handicapped son, Mephibosheth, who is also King Sauls' grandson. As such Mephibosheth would normally be King Davids' enemy too. 🕯
