I’ve been following you and 3 other thru hikers on both the AT and the PCT. You are doing it the right way in my opinion by taking breaks when you’re not physically ready, stopping to enjoy views and good food. Plus you are both killing the miles! You are very lucky that Ziggy has stayed with you as a hiking buddy as that is super important for mental wellness. Hike on!

I'm starting to question some of the distance measurements on these signs. Google Maps gives a range of 330-350-ish miles walking from Killington to Katahdin. That's a good reminder that Maine is geographically large, but I am skeptical that there's another 150 miles to be found between those two points on the AT versus whatever roads and local trails Google is routing you on.

They aren't walking anywhere near a straight line distance.

@@dougthebigdp314 Neither is Google when you have it map out a walking route. It's not using the AT either, but it isn't a straight line. Straight line is around 180 miles. Maybe if you take all the switchbacks, elevation gains etc into account...
