Day 14: We had such a perfect day at Warwick castle today! We went around the inside, outside, and even up on the ramparts of this historically significant building. You can even see how the textile conservators are dealing with the mountains of textiles throughout the castle. There's so much I couldn't show you so I hope you visit it while you're in the UK. I also got the chance to spin while at home and at the castle, using both wheel spinning and spindle spinning methods. :)

I don't spend enough time on myself so this challenge will focus on me spinning for myself (mostly) and sharing some personal projects--and personal growth with y'all.

Ding ding, you got it right! It has less to do with age and more to do with how many museums you've been to. 😉🤣 I learned about a mangle as a kid (and a funny story about my great grandma catching her bosom in it--always good to pay attention to what you're doing!). It was such a long day but I got to enjoy myself too. My mom had tons of fun.

@@ExpertlyDyed Hi Jennifer, sorry for the late reply. Me knowing what it was, is definitely due to my age. There was a lady a couple of doors down from where I lived as a kid, having and using a Mangle exactly like this and also a Tub and Possum. I know my mum had one but it was attached to a Washing machine but you turned it by hand. They were such hard work. I'm glad that you and your Mum had a fun filled day. I hope you both have as much fun today. Xxxxxxx ❤ ❤

Today was a long day but I loved going to Warwick castle (this was my third trip there) and spinning some wool.

Love the mug. A: 7, curtains, canopy, wallpaper, bed spread, shirt, vest, pants, jacket, and something in the valise. B: It's a mangler. And finally, wow, that looked fun.

Well done, Sonja! The wall was a tricky one but you got it! :) I love Warwick castle; I highly recommend a journey there if you're ever in the UK.

Lol, I'd need to find the right sort of moss first. :)

HI Jennifer .I did not know that moss could be spun . It is a clothes mangle, my grandmother had one when I was little about 5yrs old and I was allowed to turn the handle when she washed the sheets etc. Gosh I sound really old now(66yrs) Hehe . She kept it her shed, it did a really good job . Have a great day out and about tomorrow.

I have a spin dryer for all my hand dyed yarn and I LOVE using it...I'm sure a mangle is similar. I only saw pictures and heard stories before seeing them in museums.

That contraption looked a little like a mangle iron my mom had when I was little (1950s)?. What a fun day for you both!
