Why do you need extra support loops? I was wondering because without them the shape looks the same. I mean at the end you put some on the inside.

Because it's not good to have long stretched quads.. you need to get like squared faces for a proper topology.

Sir why you didn't separate the object and then extrude it to make the rectangular part... In this way the topology will be fine.?? Your comments please
