Lord Jesus, I humbly pray for myself, Father Mike, & all the people participating in the Bible-in-Year podcast. May your word take deep root in our hearts & transform our ways of thinking, deciding, and acting. May your grace open our ears to hear & understand God's voice in the Scriptures that we may revere & treasure both the Old & the New Testaments which God has prepared for all who desire to enter his kingdom. Send us your Holy Spirit to give us the Spirit of Knowledge, that we may know God and know ourselves. Give us the grace to approach the Word of God with meekness & humility, & with an eagerness to do everything God desires. Help us to be diligent students & faithful disciples of your Word. May our hearts never grow dull & may our ears never tire of listening to your voice. Amen.

A comment on Christ's reference to Psalm 22. Our Lord worked as a Rabbi in his time, and this was a time before the formalization of scripture as we know it. It likely wasn't known as "Psalm 22" at that time but just a part of scripture, and the way scripture was referenced in that time was to quote the first few lines of a given passage. Therefore it's logical to conclude that Christ, while he was at the brink of death, referenced the part of scripture that prophesized that very event. Truly amazing, Praise Be.

It wasn’t the nails that kept Jesus on the cross. It was the overwhelming love for each one of us that kept Him there. Meditate on that love, on the awfulness of sin, what it cost our God. It’s hard to wrap one’s mind around it. We need to bring that into the very core of our being. I am loved that much & my sins are so awful they caused the gruesome, horrific, torturous death of the Son of God. Oh Jesus, I don’t deserve Your love & sacrifice, but You gave them up for me anyway. Thank you, my Lord & my God. I give myself up to You. Use & mold me to reflect You.

The casting lots is, firstly, to fulfill Psalm 22:18. The reason they did it, at least according to John 19:23-24, is that the tunic was seamless so they couldn't tear it. Blessings to you!

Please God continue to hope in us because with the help of the HOLY Spirit, the Sacraments, the Church, and the continual reading of you Worlds we will get it together. Transcription (I changed it a tiny bit) - Why do we, as Catholics, have crucifixes (with Jesus on the cross), instead of just plain crosses? We don't keep the image of Jesus on there because we're keeping Jesus on the cross, not at all! What that image is meant to do is to remind us of at least two things: FIRST - it reminds us of the devastating effects of sin. The recognition that when we look upon Jesus on the cross, we're looking at "This is what sin costs. This is what sin does to us." Sin cost the very life of God himself. When God became incarnate, when God became one of us for our sins, THIS is what that meant. THIS is what it cost! When we look at the crucifix it should pierce our hearts and always remind us, THAT'S my sin up there. Those are my sins on the cross." SECOND - It reminds of it's not the depth to which Jesus suffered that redeems us. It's the depth with which he LOVED us. So the second thing that the crucifix reminds us of is the very unstoppable and absolutely faithful love of God, the self-giving love of God, the self-sacrificing love of God. Not only are we reminded, "Look. That's what my sin costs," but we say "THAT is the price that God believes that I'm worth." God believed that YOU are worth the death of his son! The son of God believes that YOU are worth his own suffering and death. It's not it is not the nails that kept Jesus on the cross, it's his love for YOU. It's overwhelming to be loved like that. Just imagine being loved like that. THAT'S how much you are loved!

A great reminder of God's love for us through Jesus. *Jesus’ corpus on the cross reminds us of His love and His sacrifice even though we know that He is now in Heaven * “The nails didn't keep Him on the Cross but His undying love for us”- Jesus could fight the captors and foes but He sacrificed Himself for us and for God’s Will. His tortuous end remained a sign for generations to come to show God's love for us and the way to salvation. * Psalm 22- Plea for Deliverance from Suffering and Hostility- a Psalm that resonates with David, us and Jesus as “No answer to my questions during the day and no rest at night” is what David had when enemies (his own son) were chasing him, when we are troubled in life, and when Jesus faced his day of crucifixion. “Aba, Aba, why have you forsaken me?” summed up how Jesus felt and how we feel when we find that God is not talking to us but like Jesus’ resurrection, there is indeed an end to all suffering if we consider suffering as a way to salvation. We have to just follow Jesus, God's Will and trust God. Thank you for your reminders and analysis, Fr Mike and Team Ascension. God bless you and the fellow listeners

June 10, 2023 Round Two Please pray for Souls in Purgatory. Go ahead, just take about 30 seconds to help save a soul that maybe is your family member or friend! Go forth and help save! Here is the prayer: (According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory.) The Prayer of St. Gertrude Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen. God would reply to St. Gertrude that He would use whatever was offered to Him for the faithful departed, according to His inclination to show pardon & mercy.

You transform us so that we can live in heaven with you. We are so unworthy, but we recognize only you make us worthy. Say the 15 St Bridget prayer's and live the passion daily. Jesus received 5480 blow's and it's an approved prayer. It's changed my life, every time you sin it pierces your heart. When someone around you it pierces your heart. If I'm not in prayer or reading scripture, in reconciliation or at mass, I'm yearning to improve everyday. This prayer has changed my life to the point I'm dead the adore of flesh. I went from taking communion by the hand, to being moved by the Eucharist to the point I drop to my knees and receive Christ my the tongue. Please look it up and say this prayer and really pay attention and meditate on this prayer. 🙏🙏🙏

12:14 Father in heaven we give you praise. We thank you, thank you so much … thank you for giving us your Son, and thank you for giving us hope, because in the face of our own deaths, in the face of our own suffering and pain, in the face of our own sin, we have no hope if we are on our own. But, Lord God, you have sent your son to bear our sin. You sent your son to transform our suffering, and you have sent your son to redeem the power of death, to conquer the power of death, and to transform it to redeem death so that, now, death is no longer the enemy, but death is our mother, and she gives birth to us in your presence. She brings us from this world into the next. She brings us from this life into eternal life with you; and that’s only possible because of your love, Father. Because of the love of your Son, Jesus Christ, and what he did for us. What he has done for us, and how he continues to with you send the Holy Spirit to be with us this day, and every day, so Father please send your Holy Spirit upon us right now, and transform in our hearts what needs to be transformed to bring to life what is dead, heal what is broken, and forgive please Lord God forgive what is needing forgiveness. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen. †

John 19:25-27 25 Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala. 26When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” 27Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.
