In this video I go from Burgos into the beginning long, flat Meseta. Many people skip this section because of it’s harshness with heat, wind, cold and relentless pounding of the body.
On the way out of Burgos the landscape changes and opens up. I saw a shepherd leading his sheep, a scene to me that looked out of a movie. I was blessed by a sweet nun for my continued pilgrimage. It was a beautiful day.
My body continues to get stronger, but feels beat up at the end of the day. I ache and hobble the last two hours. But onward I go, along with all of the other people I meet from around the world. All for different reasons. What an amazing journey this is. I am finding strength inside of me that I didn’t think I had. This feels so good. I continue to count my blessings, ending each day with a heart of gratitude for the smallest things, like a soft mattress, and maybe a room with no snorers. Life is a gift for sure. I am living vicariously through you girl! Today’s post is my favorite so far because you sound so much like me. I have a dream of walking the entire Camino but am settling for a 22 day walk with a woman I met online. She’s done the Camino many times and she is going in 2021 with just 4-6 older ladies (like me...I’m 69 but will be 71 by then). I will miss the Mesita which makes me kind of sad, but seeing it through your eyes is wonderful. My husband keeps telling me that since I’ve watched so many videos about the Camino, that I don’t need to walk it myself. Haha! It just makes me want to do it even more! I would leave tomorrow if I could. Thank you for the beautiful videos and your sweet honest narrative.

Oh boy Jeenee...I`m going to be an emotional mess on my spring Camino. Seeing the nun bless you, I felt her affection and tears came to my eyesl. I got all emotional all of a sudden. I feel what you say about the Camino. My reasons are many...but the most important one is that it has been calling me for almost 20 years now...I need to walk. Yes! What a day. You did it! Maybe the reasons why you traveled this pilgrimage was to find out you could do it. Your limitations retreated and you needed to confirm that your life held huge possibilities. You found yes, I can do whatever I truly set my heart on. I think that’s part of why I hope I someday can too.

The meseta was my favorite!! No one needs to know why the Camino needs to be done. Just do it! Lessons come into play and lifes are changed!
