I have wheel rotation set to "automatic" and soft lock enabled so that it's more "realistic". In reality, the wheel rotation depends on the car. Modern rally cars have 720 or 540 degrees. Older cars before 1990 will sometimes have up to 900 degrees of rotation. It's more difficult but it helps with immersion because the wheel angle in cockpit view will match the wheel in your hands. More important if you race in cockpit view or VR. If you just want to be as fast as possible and don't care about immersion or realism, then just set it to 540 or 720.

Thank you so much for the input. I decided to go with 540 degrees and am definitely seeing a difference in time

I've started my first full stages rallies in WRC couple weeks ago too when I finally bought wheel stand. Before wheel stand, I was just destroying clamps that was fixing wheel and shifter to table. You have direct drive, I think? I was not sure if I would like sim racing that much so I went light, I have T300RS and T8A shifter. I used my flight stick as handbrake for some time. And just yesterday I bought cheap generic Chinese handbrake, which is surprisingly ok, although it needs some mounting options. How you shift with those paddles? I tried with default T300 wheel paddles sequential shifting and it is very confusing when you need to shift, and wheel is not in neutral position or when it is 180, they switch sides. I just couldn't handle that and use H-pattern now because WRC career gives me older H pattern cars for now. I believe in real rally cars paddles do not move with the wheel axis, that is why they use them there in some cases.

I also found that I absolutely need gloves otherwise at second consecutive stage I just loose wheel grip

Congrats on starting rally. How are you liking it so far? Yes I have a direct drive wheel and pedal shifting can get a little annoying on a hairpin but a viewer of the channel told me on video 7 or 8 to use small furniture feet for like a headphone rest on the upshift paddle so that I can find it easier when the wheel is upside down and it has helped a lot. I talked about it in a confessional after the stage. I’m hoping to get a handbrake with the money I make from these videos. I when the same problem with needing gloves. Thanks so much for watching the video. I just uploaded a new one for day 18

@@Neilthegarageguy i have t300 rs gt and use paddles. yes it is sometimes hard to get into the gear while rotating or doing some freaky stuff, but you just get the hang of it after some time, my second week with the wheel :D

how is losing depth perception by closing one eye going to impact your driving? I don't think you have any depth perception just by looking at a screen in the first place🤔 (0:15)
@Neilthegarageguy5 күн бұрын
You know I did some more research and turns out you are correct. It doesn’t really affect when looking at screen. I do have to press button and paddles on the wheel so maybe it will affect that? Either way I appreciate you taking the time to watch the series.

if you want to try some new technic or just practice drift without the handbrake you can go on the playground of dirt 2.0
@Neilthegarageguy5 күн бұрын
Oh I didn’t even think about that. Let me try driving around the playground today. Thank you!
