One advice before setting a Completed update set back to In Progress: if you use update sources or otherwise have someone importing update sets to another instance, make sure the update set has not been retrieved yet in the other instance. If it is you can delete it on the other instance (unless it has been committed) before setting it back to In Progress on your dev instance. A safer approach is to create a new update set to capture additional changes and not set update sets back to In Progress, but I prefer fewer update sets. :)

Hi Ravi, quick question. When an update set is retrieved from Dev to Prod, will the sys_id be the same for both instances? or do they change?

Both way.. you can do .. Mostly as a developer we move via xml or some companies release team move via update source
