Wooden bread - that's a hardship! 🪵🍞🥖 Sometimes bread literally does contain sawdust ... so called "tree-flour" 😖 (Actually, numerous food products contain cellulose: many types of commercial 🍕and 🍰🍩🍪🫓🥨🌮🍔and even 🍨! Many brands of Parmesan cheese contain cellulose, made from wood pulp. 🧀Up to 9% on the ingredients list !😝 But those marketing such products claim it makes ice'-cream 'creamier" and bread to have "more fibre and less calories.") I'm sure it's more profitable too!

Greetings 🌐🪐Club! I can believe that regarding Italy. I have noticed when I've been in Italy, there is a keen focus on fresh foods and particularly organic food. Certain ingredients that are approved of and included within Australian products are banned in Italy, due to being harmful. Btw, I ❤your enthusiasm for the lessons!

Your new profile pic is lovely! We have a Rosa Mundi here, it's a David Austin sport of R. gallica 'Officinalis'. (We have a lot of David Austin varieties. 💐 They grow fabulously in Oz conditions.) Is your photo of a Damask Rose? Fragrant and perfect for rose petal jam! 😋🌹🥀 It's a beautiful day outside, I'm going back out to it now. ☀ Hopefully a glorious day ahead for you too 🌞🤗

@@lilyrose4191 Hi Lily. Yes, it is a Rosa Mundi - or Rosa Gloria Mundi - as we call it. It's so gorgeous - I love Old Roses, as you said, brilliant for culinary purposes. It's the first rose in our "new" garden, which is rather exposed, but has a hedge bank to the east and a wooden pannelled fence on the northern side ( made from Pete's sawmill offcuts) and we've planted a beech hedge to break the winds from the Irish Sea! More roses next year....😊 And more trees and hedging. David Austin roses are fab! They brought out the Frensham Rose - it was in every garden in our family for decades! My Mum and Grandfather had a lot of Harkness roses too, though, as my Mum was born just down the road from their nurseries! I remember going there with my grandparents when I was four or five. I remember lavender fields in Surrey, too, and watercress meadows and hop yards. I wonder if they still exist. We seldom visit England. 🤣Wonderfu to think that roses thrive in Australia. Most introduced species are a disaster - Japanese knotweed, rhodedendrons, Himalayan balsam, grey squirrels - that's just the ones that first come to mind! I've rambled. Have a lovely day, and enjoy your Russian. How's Rick's Russian coming along? Best wishes to you and yours. 🏵🌼🏵🐔🐐🐱🌹🌹🌹

@@sashaluna805 Oooooh! You're planting a rose garden! 🥰🌹🌷🌱 The Beech hedging will be fabulous! 🌳 Such beautiful trees. You are both busy bees! 🐝🐝 Rick and I love the David Austin roses, they truly thrive in our climate. The Harkness Roses would have a nostalgia for your family, with their nurseries in the vicinity. Wonderful! The thing with roses is ... collecting them becomes a habit! 😁 We're fortunate to have plenty of space to just extend a bit ... and then a bit more ... 😂 It's great that my folks looked after our place when we moved away. It's nice to be back and enjoying the maturity of the garden any time we want to, instead of as if we were visitors in our own home - staying for a couple of weeks and then interstate again. My parents enjoy the garden too. You mention lavenders, we have been trimming those back by a third this week and the same with the many daisies. It's weirdly warm for the end of June. 20 C degrees today and still warm tonight. The entire week has been glorious weather! 🌞 Feels like early Spring already. 🌷🌼🌿 We don't have squirrels, just possums and they are noisy on the roof and balcony. Cheeky critters! The dark red petals of Rosa Frensham are beautiful, perfect shape 🌹 We bought a new rose 2 days ago. We tried to buy it last year, but it was sold out. This winter I found it in the early releases. The name of the rose is "Best Friend". 💕 (Perfect name!) The rose was named by the RSPCA and Rick's Mum was always a keen supporter of animal welfare. Rick's mother loved deep pink roses and we want to plant one in her memory. "Best Friend" is also highly fragrant, and she would've loved that 💖 How is Rick's study going? He is still doing the classes, although a bit behind this week (busy with projects). Enjoying using the flash cards. Sending many good wishes your way! Blessings to you & yours! 🙏🐓🐔🐣🐏🐑🐶🐕🐴🐎🐎🐿🌹🌷🌱🌳 Btw, amusing that you seldom visit England - it's a stone's throw away by Oz distance standards! 😄🦘
