It may be tempting, and even considered “righteous,” to think of our culture on an irreversible descent, “going the way of Rome.” But God’s ways and His timing are complex, and He never abandons His people. I’m no king or prophet designated to fulfill God’s judgment like Jehu or the heroic Jehoida, but God does call me to live out His truth and mercy, and show others His character, in the places He’s placed me. And I don’t have to have a feeling of dread for our culture, because God is at work and can overturn institutions in ways I’ll never comprehend. His story has a good ending, and He’s writing us into it.

Aloha and good morning BR family. Psalm 23:1-3, “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside the quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake”. Praise the Lord for he is where the JOY is!!!❤

Wow when I read this part I know God wants us to see, He is always trying to show how much power He has and asking us to come join Him, in praise and believe. He always uses his ways which are sometimes hard to under stand, PRAISE the LORD He is where the JOY IS!!!!

In today's reading, there is a lot of killing- such brutality. I was imagining this being a movie and it would definitely be rated R- I flinched at the description of the killings. Through it all I see God's providence though. He raised up leaders to get rid of idolaters and those who were leading His people astray.

This was a hard few chapters to read. My takeaway is to stay on God's side. You don't want to be on His bad side.

Day 185 Prophets are powerful. These are the people that God chooses to speak through. There is no election process. It is God that does the choosing. Today Elisha sends a prophet to anoint Jehu as king over Israel. He gives him the weighty task of destroying all Ahabs descendants as foretold by God. Jehu kills 2 kings and then Jezebel. All happens exactly as Elijah prophesied. Jehu continues to destroy all descendants of Ahab and all the people who worship Baal. Jehu destroys the temple of Baal and turns it into an outhouse. However Jehu still leaves the two golden calves in Bethel. He should have been as thorough at destroying the idols as he was the people of Ahab. Jehu’s heart eventually goes astray. The hardest idols to destroy are the ones within our own heart. Jehu reigns for 28 years. In the southern kingdom we see the account of the young King Joash who replaced the evil queen. Joash tore down the altars of Baal. We see the word of the Lord fulfilled in multiple ways. When God says something will happen we can trust that it will regardless of circumstances or timing. We can also see the wickedness of so many people. Yet we see God had abundantly provided for them, but they rejected Him and go their own way. God is always working.

I wonder why Elijah didn't finish God's instructions tho. And neither did Elisha. The other prophets finished it. 🤔 Interesting.
