morning Chris, I hope you didn't misunderstand what I was trying to say yesterday, up here in ILL. osha, county inspectors, and others would have lost there minds if they would have seen us putting in pipe like that. Hell they would have closed the job down, and fined the bejesus out of the company, you guys always do a great job. Up here some of your method's would be looked down upon. love your videos, I watch them and think about coming out of retirement, and then my wife slaps that idea out of my head. Have a great rest of your weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I always look forward to your videos! I’m just a 70 yr old grandma. You make me laugh at times. Been working towards catching up on past videos. You are Really good at what you do!!! Sometimes it seems you’re short with you uncle. Very obvious. But that’s in older videos. Hopefully things are better now. Please keep doing what you do. I pray every day for you and your safety. God bless you!

I think it is worth noting that the “sheep’s foot” style is suppose to leave the top ruff like that so that the next layer/lift locks in with the lower. A smooth roller can make it like pages in a book. Excellent work as usual Chris.

That sheep’s foot wheel is perfect for that soil and moisture content. Vibratory would most likely pump the water up in it.
@comparedtowhat2549
@comparedtowhat2549 3 жыл бұрын
Vibratory is used for cohesionless material, such as gravel, rock and sand. Any soil that does pump is too moist for optimal compaction and too moist for the amount of work being applied to it. This soil looks a bit on the dry side. I bet one could put something like a jumping jack all day on it without any sign of pumping.

Interesting how you're using some flat, black rubbery stuff with adhesive and tear-off paper for pipe seals, rather than the standard round, rubber O-rings we use here in Australia. Those O-rings can be a pain in the arse. They can pinch and leak, they can so easily slip off when you're trying to fit them on the pipe. I much prefer the way you guys are doing it. Stick it on the pipe, tear off the paper, fit the pipe. Job done. Pipe layers here would be like, "Please gimme that stuff!"

I enjoy your videos and I like the skill and dexterity with which you handle your equipment. I however disagree that the pipe was laid backwards. I checked the American Concrete Pipe Association's 'Installation Manual' which states the bell end should point upstream, therefore towards the pond and the spiggot or tongue end downstream, the discharge end. The failure of this pipe and sink holes was a result of improper alignment or deformation of the sealing gasket.

Once saw a 10foot diameter concrete pipe get layed. Those were big machines picking it up and the pipe sections were quite short. I believe the excavator came in on 6 or 7 trucks and then was assembled on site.

I worked making concrete pipe for 38 years. This happens more than people realize. I had to go out to a job when contractor starts an install on 10' X 10' precast box culverts. He says we put a hole on the wrong side of the third box he put in. With loaded trucks waiting, rented crane waiting he wants to know what we're going to do about it. My boss and I get there and right away we tell he put them in backwards. You always start at the outfall with the bell end section . flow line is always bell to spigot .

Your pry/digging bar took hell on this job. I think you gonna have to scrap it and get a new one. No way it will ever be straight again. I've heard people say it don't matter which way you lay pipe, it's just a bunch of junk saying there's a certain way to do it and it will work either way you do it. Water will flow through it sure but it don't work forever. Exact example here of it not working. Next time I here it don't matter which way you lay pipe I will refer the person to this video. That compactor attachment works good. Have you seen the ones that are plate compactors and vibrate from the axillary hydraulic line? Great work on this pipe job. Stay well. -Wil 👍
