For me Matt, one of these shows brings back memories of our younger day. We got up before we could see, started up the daily driver to work, the seats cold an windshield covered in dew that dripped on everything including you as the reason that seat was wet was the condensation dripping from the ceiling and it was chilly till you got to the job. Standing on the sled of a Washington Yarder that skidded timber for a half mile away across the canyon that part of the crew dropped off at and walked down the steep hills to where trees that had been fell were waiting for men to wrap a steel choker around and one man in the crew called a whistle punk would give that first signal that was a long and short would blow so you raised up the rigging nice and tight... chokers dancing from the heavy butt rigging, spread out by heavy steel barrel swivels and one choker each hanging down and soon came the " Toot toot and the haulback drum would drop into gear and drag the butt rigging that was attached to a heavier line called the main line would freewheel with you feathering the brake so it would float in the air keeping the chokers from dragging on tops of trees and high spots on the ground..... it sailed back fairly fast and waiting for the different signals to slack the mainline and slow down some allowing men to grab those chokers before they hit the ground. Those men grabbed those steel rigging lines and put their backs into it so that the choker they were holding could be wrapped around different logs laying there waiting to head to the landing. Usually three large logs that were like thirty plus feel long would hang freely and hopefully clear of the ground. The signal long sent for you to pull them to the landing, and if they drug along the ground then the whistle punk would blow signals to slack the line more or tighten more to clear the hang ups. This could get really long but you get the idea. These shows are more than just junkie equipment buy more stories of the men who built america many years ago. Most of us are dead now from the time thats gone by as we were just young men in the fifties and are now in late sixties or more... I'm 73 and one of the young ones of those days as most are dead now as the equipment shown is over a hundred some of it and your grand parents before you worked on them. Thanks for a yesterday Matt. I assume that this is way too long now

The show reminds me of the Red Horse outfit I was with in Korea. Using heavy equipment like in the video we would do things like dig out a crater near an air strip to a precise dimension. Under a stop watch we would prep, fill, level, and cover the crater with special matting so air operations could resume. Practice like this makes for a spectacular awe, entertainment, and creating a winning team.
