Quite profound! How fortunate we are to have H.H. The Dalai Lama teaching us these truths about the nature of reality. All of those who disagree with Buddhism should not be commenting here. Nor should they rationalize why they do. They generate negative emotions, which shows ipso facto that they need to practice more diligently there own faiths, which are beautiful and true in their own way I'm certain. Shanti, shanti, shanti. Thank you Tensing for having the compassionate wisdom to share with me the true nature of our involvement with Samsara. Words cannot express my gratitude!

Unlike general teachings n advice for public, this teachings tap upon slightly deeper understanding of life pertaining to logical reasoning n buddhist phylosophy. This shows the another dimension of his Holiness. Wonderful way to touch intellectual minds

)) very interesting, following your ethical commitments/understanding of morality (be it the pratimoksa, 10 commandments, your personal ethical agenda, etc...) is foundational for the meditation practice. I did not understand this prior to this great teaching. Previously, I disconnected the conceptual (relative truth) rationalization of life, for example "this is ethical, this is not ethical" with meditation (vipasana) on emptiness. But actually, that "mindfulness" is foundational. 1:01:30 ))

Interesting point equating the practice of meditation (शमथ) with ethical practice. I think that the connection makes sense in terms of karma. The actual connection is that by violating your ethical commitments you will feel guilt and other negative results which immediately effect your meditation making it harder to calm your mind (samatha).

I've been to Tibet every summer for the past 30 years. It's a great place. They are far more free than us on the outer, inner and secret levels. Tibetans in Tibet aren't consumed with jealousy and hatred like the ones in India and the West are. You want to see destruction of culture just go see the American Indians. If you want to see preserved Tibetan culture, just go to Tibet. You've got to go to know! Don't believe the propaganda, just follow your heart! Good karma builds temples, bad karma destroys them. What kind of karma are you creating? Everything is self perfected through the nature of wisdom. May all Tibetans in the West realize this! Everything is perfect just as it is, nothing to add, nothing to take away. May you find the peace of mind free from all animosity, just like the glorious Lotus Born Guru!
