what motivates Satan, he wants to "steal, kill and destroy my peace and my intimacy with God " if I do not focus on God then my focus is on all that is NOT God and that means I'm playing right into Satan's hand who wants to taint my relationship with God with worry and seeking help anywhere but God. Thank you for bringing that into perspective for me Tara-Leigh, it makes so much sense,🌸

God spoke to me through this. I've been feeling distant and like I can't connect to God or retain anything I try to learn. I've lost my brother and my daddy in the last few years and now my daughter is struggling with mental health. Its easy to feel complacent when life is perfect, and easy to feel unheard and attacked when it's hard. Today I realized God needed Hezekiah to feel the suffering to turn to Him and remember he needed God. God has gotten me through every struggle so far and will not forsake me now. Thank you Tara for the video podcast too. It helps my mind not wonder when I can watch something! I love it. I pray for everyone's journey to get closer to God through this plan!

“We spend so much time avoiding pain, but pain is often what draws us close to God”. I have experienced this as true. And while God did try to prevent what caused me 8 years of debilitating pain (I didn’t heed the warning well enough), he is faithful to his promise to work it all for good-not only for me, but also for others through me. What a gracious God we serve! He is, indeed, where the joy is!

Father, You are so loving, gracious, and faithful. I pray for Donna right now: please reveal your presence to her and fill her with your spirit of peace and comfort. Bring people who love you into her life to be your hands and feet for healing in her soul. If she is also in physical pain, Father, I pray for healing for her. Whether you lead her to the right treatment or heal her yourself, ease her pain and give her a life that she can live and be a light back to you. I pray all this in Jesus' name.

I love how scripture reminds us that God listens. He hears and He sees our tears. I appreciate TLC says that, "our prayers are tools in God's hand to accomplish what He (already) has planned for us." Talk to Him, confess, share our fears and we may not get healing or perfection, but we get GOD! Hallelujah!!! Satan knows how to use my comforts and make me feel like I'm good in my abundance and success, but in reality, I'm only ever at peace when I'm heavily leaned into and in constant communication with my Father! Forgive me, Lord, when I stray and begin to fall down the similar path as King Hezekiah. Draw me near to you and let me stay in your presence. I never want to grow complacent and stop listening to you, Lord. YOU are my only hope. Thank you, Father God. Bless TBR community and staff. Give us all wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and a clean and pure heart. Help us shine your light and give you all the glory. Thank you for your blessings. In Jesus perfect and holy name I pray, Amen!

This is one of the saddest moments in the Bible, where my favorite king, Hezekiah, becomes arrogant and ungrateful and shows off his riches, and then doesn’t care about his legacy. It’s instructive to be grateful and let gratitude be a humble reminder of the fear of God.

Wow. Pray to get God. Yes and Amen! The line of kings in Judah continues. There was 1 good king in Hezekiah, followed by 2 horrible kings, Manasseh and Amon. Hezekiah definitely had his faults. He went from humility and seeking God in prayer to very prideful. It doesn't seem like he showed any repentance after Isaiah told him what would happen in the future (2 Kings 20: 16-19). He failed to see that his decision to show off in front of the Babylonians would have a negative impact on future generations. He was just glad that it would not impact him right then. What a shame. Lord, I have not always lived godly. Thank You for showing me my selfishness and pride so that it led me to repentance. I pray for the next generation in my family to be men and women who seek after You. Give them hearts to love You and be a witness to Your goodness. In Jesus' name, Amen 🙏🏽.

God reveals a new complexity to His character when He has Isaiah tell Hezekiah that he’s about to die. It’s merciful that He usually doesn’t tell us when we or our loved ones are about to experience tragedy. In fact, knowing the moment of your death is a bad horror movie (“Countdown” in 2019). If we were to know what God knows, we couldn’t move; we’d be doubled over in grief. No wonder that Jesus was a “man of sorrows.” Yet, He was overwhelmed with the joy of His intimacy with the Father. …I’ve read that when the soldier pierced His side on the cross and water and blood flowed out, that it showed that His heart had burst. How fitting that Jesus’ love for us may have literally broken His heart, having borne the knowledge of His sacrifice and carrying our sins.

However, what God promises, he will deliver as he did with Hezekiah. God promised and gave Hezekiah fifteen years, Unfortunately, Hezekiah did not see the goodness of God blessing and favors and didn't change. Glory be to God! His mercy and grace are forever. This gave me a lightbulb moment! Satan is cunning indeed- I have seen in my life the material gain that keeps others further from God. Some of us are “blessed” in our hardship to draw nearest to Him.. and its obvious looking at the world.. that many of those with abundance have/seek less closeness or deep relationship with Jesus. ❤

My God shot today comes from 2 Ki 20:5, where God sends a message to Hezekiah through Isaiah saying, “…I have heard your prayer and seen your tears…” This tells me, once again, that God pays attention to each of His children personally. It just reiterates to me that He desires a close relationship with each of us.

This hit my heart Day 214 2 Kings 20 & 21 King Hezekiah seeks the Lord and serves him wholeheartedly in the earlier part of his life.He was a true example of what it is to truly serve God. However we see in his later years his once fire for God was only a small flicker. We don’t wake up and intend to lose closeness with God. That happens as we chose daily to not press in closer. It’s a daily choice we all have. We get to chose how close we want to be to Him. Lack of intention, action and pursuit for His heart cause this. We see his sons after him are wicked to a degree that it’s stunning. I wonder if they saw their father who was once fully committed to God, burn out slowly with his daily comprises. When we don’t fill ourselves up 100% with God, the enemy comes in wherever there is empty space. Hezekiah‘s children saw their fathers duplicity in what was important. His life choices certainly had an impact on their views. God’s love is amazing to me as he spared Hezekiah’s life and gave him 15 more years knowing this would be the pattern. God even caused the sun to move backwards at Hezekiah’s request. God truly gives each of us opportunity to love him deeper. But it is a choice that He leaves with us. The kindness and mercy of God is something that causes me to think deeply daily.

It is so tragic that after all the good things that Hezekiah did, he became prideful and arrogant and didn't care about the legacy of his family and nation. He didn't seem to be bothered by the fact that all the good that he had done for God, the temple and destroying the high places would be undone. This is so confusing to me. An interesting thought is about his son. If he was twelve years old when he became king after Hezekiah died, that means that if God had not answered Hezekiah's prayer and gave him fifteen more years, the son took over and did evil would not have been born. I know that God has a plan for everything, but it's interesting to contemplate how things may have been different. We know and trust that God has a plan. Everything that occurs is for His ultimate glory. We don't have to think about "what ifs" because we can trust God with all things and situations.

He filled Judah with innocent blood. God allowed all those innocent ones to die at The hands of this evil king and did not appear to punish him at all. How often do we see scenarios like this played out in the world today? We know God hates such behavior yet He waits to act. Why? All I can know is that His timing is perfect, even when it doesn't seem so to me.

Hezekiah was a godly king. I see nothing in these passages to justify calling him selfish and arrogant. Even when he showed all his treasures to the emissaries of Babylon, and Isaiah tells him it's all going to be taken away, it's not a rebuke. It's a prophetic illustration of what will happen in the future. We don't know Hezekiah's motivation for showing his treasures. It could have been pride, or could have been an attempt to glorify God for His blessings and provision.

You would think that God would have done Hezekiah a bigger favor by not extending his life and letting him go out on a high note versus knowing that he was going to fall into sin and go from "10 to 2". I'm not sure about us "playing a vital role in His will being made manifest" by praying. I do pray but I've often wondered why I/we pray for those who are sick, dying etc. when God already knows the outcome. I feel like my prayer isn't going to change the outcome. If God decided long ago that the person was going to die on a certain day, my prayer isn't going to change that. Maybe I just need to remember Hezekiah. Oooooh, what an interesting perspective on Satan bringing abundance to destroy our intimacy with God. That's thought provoking.
