Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the Lord! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! Habakkuk 3:17‭-‬18 NLT What a powerful prayer of faith. I took courage from these verses. When our situations look hopeless, let's look to God for he knows our every desire, need, and every hurt. He will answer according to his will. We need to learn to trust him and be patient . Just know that he loves us so much. He loves this kind of faith. He wants his children to thrive. He wants his children to know that he is the God of the impossible. Amen 🙏🕊 Happy Sunday Bible family.

My favorite sermon that my Dad preached was “Made for the Mountains,” drawing on God making our feet “like hinds’ feet, standing on high places” (Hab 3:19). How does He make us “surefooted,” and what are these “high places” we stand upon? We live in the Valley of the Shadow of Death, and ask God where He is. God tells us that He sees us, sees our plight, and will avenge injustice and restore us. He makes the astounding promise that the “earth will be filled with an awareness of the glory of God” (Hab 2:14). Until then, “the just will live by faith” (Hab 2:4), faith in Who God is, that even when everything around us has fallen apart (Hab 3:17), “I will still rejoice in the Lord!” (Hab 3:18) Last night, we joined women in prison in a worship service, some of them serving 25 and 48 year sentences. In the midst of darkness and hopelessness, their faith exploded in praise, arms and hands raised, singing and rejoicing-and 7 of them gave their lives to Christ. God makes our feet strong to stand on the faith that He is good, and singing praise to Him puts our feet on the Rock.

What an honest conversation between Habakkuk and the Lord. God is going to punish Israel for their wickedness by using the nation of Babylon. But, He will also punish Babylon because of them being so brutal with their force. Today, I took courage from Habakkuk 2:14 in the ESV translation, which says, "For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea." There is coming a time when everyone will know the name of the Lord. Whether he/she believes or not, Yahweh is going to reveal Himself to everyone. Those that don't know Him will feel His wrath. I also took encouragement from the prayer of Habakkuk in chapter 3, particularly verses 17-19. No matter what happens in life or in this world, because we have put our faith in Jesus Christ, we have hope, and we can rejoice. This world is not our home. We have a greater destination ahead 🙌🏽. That's so good from TLC. We don't always see the whole picture of what God is doing. He knows the beginning from the end, and everything in between.

Thanks for explaining that people's pursuit of wealth, security, power, pleasure, and control instead of putting their hope in God is what led to the 5 woes...that was really helpful!☆

"We can't see what God sees because we're in the middle of the process" (paraphrased) ~ TLC. This resonates so well with me & many others. God listens, He hears, our prayers don't fall on deaf hears but God's will & mercy will always prevail. Even at times where we see what the future holds, we still may not see what God sees because we're in the middle of the process of becoming. For "we see in part & prophesy in part". My God-shot was TLC's & I came to the conclusion that "faith is an action word". Thank you TLC & team, happy Sunday TBR family ❤

Hab 3:6, "He stood, and shook the earth; He looked and made the nations tremble." As I read this, I envisioned God on His throne with his robe filling the temple as described in Isaiah, then I saw Him stand, causing the earth to shake and making the nations tremble by merely looking. I am in awe of our magnificent, powerful, huge God.

“Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the Lord! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! The Sovereign Lord is my strength! He makes me as surefooted as a deer, able to tread upon the heights. (For the choir director: This prayer is to be accompanied by stringed instruments.)” ‭‭Habakkuk‬ ‭3‬:‭17‬-‭19‬ ‭NLT‬‬ This is my God shot today because to me it is just a simple reminder that no matter what times are in troubling times, easy times, or whatever it may be, we should always have faith in God. In these verses, the speaker is talking about how despite all these things going wrong in the land, he is as steady footed as a deer because of his faith in God . I love this verse because it truly helps but also inform and sometimes remind us Christians on how to proceed when troubling (and good times) times come our way, GO TO GOD.

Aloha, praise the Lord and good morning BR family. Keep your faith and eyes on God. He doesn't want us to put our trust and faith in wealth, security, power, pleasure, and control because those things are just temporary and can be gone in a second; but faith, trust and hope is God is everlasting. He is where the JOY is!!🙏

In Habakuk 2:18 it says, “Of what value is an idol carved by a craftsman? Or an image that teaches lies? For the one who makes it trusts in his own creation; he makes idols that cannot speak.” We can make idols of cars, homes, furniture, phones, anything we pursue instead of God. In 2:20 we are told what we should be after, “The Lord is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him.”

God answers our prayers. Sometimes He answers with a "no." We can trust that God is all knowing and all seeing. What are we? Who are we to feel that God is allowing unfairness? We are so blind and lost compared to what our awesome God knows. Thank you God for answering all our prayers, and taking ultimate care of us, your lost, blind sheep. Habakkuk 3:18 NIV "...yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior."

Day 232 Habakkuk 1-3 Today we finish our 27th book of the Bible A minor prophet to the southern kingdom of Judah prior to the invasion of the Babylonian exile. He lived and prophesied around the same time as the prophet Zephaniah and Jeremiah. Prophets are like mediators between God and His people. Usually prophets talk to the people about God. But Habakkuk talks to God about the people. He brings his concerns of injustice to God. He asks God are you seeing what I’m seeing? God isn’t answering his prayers the way he thinks they should be answered. He thinks God isn’t doing anything about the problems. God can hear him. God is listening. God denies his request. Chapter 1:5- this is a verse often taken out of context to mean something wonderful is happening. Yet this verse shows God is raising up the Babylonians to destroy them. Habakkuk doesn’t think it’s right that God use the wicked Babylonians to deal with His people. He can’t see what God sees. God gives him a vision to write down for himself and the people. He wants to draw them into Himself. God says the righteous shall live by their faith. This is what will keep the peoples souls afloat daily amongst all the problems. God speaks five categories of woes over Babylon. God warns about putting their hope in wealth, security, power, pleasure and control. Those are Babylon goals. They each lead to unique kinds of sins. Those who look to wealth as their ultimate hope will steal and cheat to get it. Those who look to security wiloppress others to protect themselves. Those who look to power will enslave people, kill people and work themselves to death. Those who look to pleasure will engage in drunkenness and debauchery. They will end up with shame. Those who look to control will try to grasp it anywhere they can. Even in idols and false Gods. God calls all people to turn from these false hopes and to turn to Him instead. God sees all the wickedness and will deal with it all. Chapter 3 Habakkuk prays and waits for the mighty works of God. He waits for His timing. He commits to trust God. Vs 17-19 he talks about how even if everything bad happens he will rejoice in the Lord. He declares God the Lord is my strength. He makes my feet like the deer. He makes me tread in high places. This is what faith looks like. Nothing is going the way I planned. But I will not put my hope in wealth or security or power or pleasure or control. I know they will fail me and will lead my heart away from God. My heart is with the one true living God.
