lisa, they're calling this dish "pico de gallo", but here in Brasil we call this "vinagrete", and it's usually made of onions, tomatoes & green bell pepper seasoned with vinegar, olive oil and salt. i ate it today with some farofa aside

Actually, it's "molho." It's more vinegary than pico. Also, like you discovered at the end, the molho and farofa is just eaten on top of the feijoada, which I think you forgot to name. Feijoada and picanha are Brazilian staples. The coxinhas are a favorite street food/ delicacy. Brigadeiros are a sweet treat, and a staple at anyt Brazilian dinner party. You got ALL the right stuff! Just don't forget, feijoada is THE main dish, the Brazilian standard. Next time try Moqueca! If you live seafood, you won't be disappointed!

Here in Brazil there’s always a debate between who likes to start the coxinha from top ou bottom haha. Farofa is a complement to rice and beans, but you can added some bacon, corn, scrambled eggs…. Or just bananas! And brigadeiro with coffee it’s the best!! ❤️ 🇧🇷

Farofa is a side dish by itself! You can make your own by tosting cassava or corn flour with onions, garlic, bacon, shredded carrots and other things (my favorite uses passions fruit pulp, super crunchy). It goes well with any kind of stew or soupy dishes.

On 4 August 2020, a large amount of ammonium nitrate stored at the Port of Beirut in the capital city of Lebanon exploded, causing at least 218 deaths, 7,000 injuries, and US$15 billion in property damage, and leaving an estimated 300,000 people homeless. A cargo of 2,750 tonnes of the substance (equivalent to around 1.1 kilotons of TNT) had been stored in a warehouse without proper safety measures for the previous six years after having been confiscated by the Lebanese authorities from the abandoned ship MV Rhosus. The explosion was preceded by a fire in the same warehouse, but as of September 2021, the exact cause of the detonation is still under investigation. The blast physically shook the whole country of Lebanon. It was felt in Turkey, Syria, Palestine, and Israel as well as parts of Europe, and was heard in Cyprus, more than 240 km (150 mi) away. It was detected by the United States Geological Survey as a seismic event of magnitude 3.3,[1] and is considered one of the most powerful artificial non-nuclear explosions in history. The Lebanese government declared a two-week state of emergency in response to the disaster. In its aftermath, protests erupted across Lebanon against the government for their failure to prevent the disaster, joining a larger series of protests which have been taking place across the country since 2019.

Lil tip, more farofa on the beans the better. Adds more crunch! My boyfriend is Brazilian, and I just got back from visiting his home country with him. My first impulse was to sprinkle a little, but he advised to go heavy on the farofa and he was not wrong! Vinigrette is also nice with the picanha cos the tang mellows the fattiness in my opinion :)

Hi! I would recommend trying a Cajun boil? It usually has Crawfish, shrimp, crab, corn on the cob and boiled potatoes and sometimes sausage. Usually you have to crack the crack the crab and craw fish shells to get to meat. It’s worth the effort cause it tastes so good. It’s has a kick but I have a low spice tolerance.

there aren’t any main dishes with farofa, usually it comes as a side dish, but you can use to make farofa temperada, the recipe is very free to your imagination, i like to sauté some onions, then add bacon, shredded carrots, corn and lots of green onions and parsley, you mix up everything in a pot and it becomes a great side dish to eat with churrasco (grilled meat) or even with rice and beans like in the video

It goes along perfectly with farofa and some white rice, and it has a great combo of flavors (the sweetness from the coconut milk, the spiciness from the peppers... It has it all). My go to ramen recipe A packet of ramen noodles, scallion, onion, sweet peppers, garlic (alot), [any spicy pepper/pepper sauce are opt.] soy sauce, sugar. Boil the ramen noodles (to desired doneness) without the seasoning packet. Veggies or meat are optional but if used saute with half the seasoning packet and the soy sauce along with the other seasonings added. Then drain the water from the noodles and add to the pot with sauted ingredients. Add sugar and more soy sauce and continue to stir fry until at your desired consistency. Sauce should be sticking to noodles and they should be sticky.

For next day try Irish stew - very basic stew broth with beef, barley oats, carrot, parsnip, mushroom, potato, lots of onion, garlic and of course a can of Guinness. In comparison to other countries, our food culture is very stripped back and I suspect it's from such a recent famine and years of having our agricultural economy controlled by colonisation lol. What we do though we do it good I promise. Doesnt get much better for a hearty comfort meal. Greetings from Connemara, love your channel ! ❤

Side note sometimes it's a broth like I said but when people add the Guinness component it is usually thickened with something and cooked to more of a reduced level almost becoming more of a sauce

Lisa! Could I please suggest that you try a Kerala Sadhya? (Kerala is a south Indian state and is popularly known as God's Own Country). A sadhya is a meal eaten on a Banana leaf (usually for Onam- an important festival) and if you want something that's different with each bite- this is the way to go!

Hey Lisa! Maybe try Bangladeshi food? I don't see many people try it. My favourite maybe Kachhi Biryani, Morog Pulao, and Chicken Rezala with paratha! Snack options may be: fuchka, chotpoti, bhelpuri

Day 24 of asking Lisa to try making masala dosa (Dosa is a sort of a savoury, South Indian rice/lentil pancake, and the “masala” that goes along with it is a simple potato sabzi). Maybe you should also try making sambhar and coconut chutney with it!
