The fact that God persues His kids and that He never leaves them, He's our sanctuary even in exile... that's the mindblowing, unimagineable, hard to understand love and mercy. It's such a part of my testimony. He never left me. He pursued me! He had to have been heartbroken time and time again, when I defaulted back to my cultural, worldly mindset and ways. Praise Him that all was not lost. He continued after me and gave me a new heart. Even when I continue to default back to sin, He is still my sanctuary. Hallelujah.

CS Lewis had some rather interesting words on that. He mentioned how his soul was pursued not by a Hound of Hell, but a Hound of Heaven.

God shows that despite the evil culture, He never leaves those who love Him. In fact, in their grief, He follows them, He leads them, He is with them.

“He knows if you’ve been bad or good/ So be good, for goodness’ sake!” This seems to be our culture’s idea of God, that like Santa Claus, He keeps a tally of right or wrong and is always watching, so you will get a lump of coal in your stocking if you’ve misbehaved. In Ez 10, the cherubim and the way they represent God’s glory show something very different. God isn’t static, sitting far away and keeping a judgmental eye on us. His Spirit and His glory seem to be represented by His guardians, the cherubim-and Ezekiel repeats the fascinating vision of the four-faced living beings who can “move in any direction without turning” (Ez 10:11 and Ez 10:20). And they cannot miss or ignore anything around them because their “bodies, hands, backs, and wings are covered with eyes” (Ez 10:12). Also, if they are formed as The Bible Project’s Tim Mackey depicts them in the Ezekiel video, they are standing in a box or square formation, supporting the crystalline platform of God’s throne. That means that when they move in any direction, each of the various four faces is facing that direction. If we can infer anything about God’s character from this bizarre image of His glory, it’s that He moves, He sees, His character never changes as He moves, and He never turns aside but is always moving forward regardless of which direction He’s going. So in my grief, in my tragedy, in my ups and downs, God is with me, always ahead, never changing or turning aside. Even misfortune is not a set back when I’m with Him, the all-seeing Almighty.

Wow, after listening to the recap I spent some time meditating on many of the ways God pursued me. How He pursued my children who each spent over a decade in addition, in and out of jail, and prison. How even now He is pursuing us in our struggles with following the culture around us instead of the God of the universe. He loves us so much and wants us in right standing, and close to Him.❤

@taraleighcobble thank you for letting God move you to emotion and sharing that with us. Too often we are also indifferent to His word and as guilty as the people in these passages of indifference to God because of our own idolatry. God’s heart was broken over His people. Our hearts should be wrecked by hearing this and encouraged by His great love for us!

God pursues us, even as we run away. Lord, let me remember Your truth and Your promises above what I know culturally. I always thought I had to take action, make things happen. If I want it done, I better figure out how to do it. But with God, we as Christians can slow down, pray to Him for His perfect purpose and His perfect timing. We can trust and know, His perfect Will will be done. God is in control and I don't have to try so hard. He is the Maker, He will do the heavy lifting! I need to simply remain obedient, loyal and love as He has shown us how to love. Thank You Lord for taking my burden.

I have been crying through these chapters of Ezekiel. Especially when God left the Temple. I see our nation doing the same sins as Jerusalem and I grieve because He must bring judgement on us our sin is much greater. We have His written word. My God shot was Ex 11:19-20. They shall have A new heart , they shall be His people and He will be their God! Praise Him for his love and mercy!!

In Ezekiel 9, there is a man in clothed linen who is charged by the Lord to put a mark on the forehead of those who groan over the abominations being committed. Then, those who did not get the mark (the idolaters) were killed. It is like the Lord is cleansing and removing wickedness. Then, in Ezekiel 10, the glory of the Lord leaves the temple. Wow. What is encouraging is in Ezekiel 11: 18-20. God makes a promise to remove the detestable things. He will remove the hearts of stone from His people and give them new hearts of flesh that are willing to follow His statutes. He will call them His people, and He will be their God. What an amazing God. He is going to do as He promised. I think of all of the detestable things currently happening now in the earth. But God brought the first salvation with the death of His Son Jesus Christ. Whoever believes in His life, burial, and resurrection will be saved. Jesus' 2nd coming is approaching. The rapture, tribulation, and thousand year reign will take place. Then, a final war war will be waged by Satan and all the unbelievers against the Lord and His saints. But no one can stand against the Lord! Everything is falling into place for God's full redemption. Yes and Amen! He's where the joy is!

My God shot today comes from Ezekiel 11:16 which says, “…Although I sent them far away among the nations and scattered them among the countries, yet for a little while I have been a sanctuary for them in the countries where they have gone.” TLC’s comment that the temple wasn’t their sanctuary, but that God was their sanctuary really stood out to me. This is still true today. A church building doesn’t provide us with the love, protection and sanctuary that God Himself provides.

God’s glory, His presence in the temple, went from above to being at the threshold. The threshold, the place of entering and exiting. God would be exiting. “The glory of the Lord is leaving the temple with the cherubim. God’s presence stood ( lingered ) at the threshold. His final look back. Grief at what’s been lost. The pain for the way His children broke His heart. A pause before He would leave there. No longer would God be there in the temple. In fact, God commanded that dead bodies be piled in there. It was a defilement. God would no longer be there. Then His presence heads East. Into the land of the Babylons, into the land of their exile. Pursing His children still. My heart marvels at the heart of God! “Now the glory of the God of Israel had gone up from the cherub on which it rested to the threshold of the house. And he called to the man clothed in linen, who had the writing case at his waist.” ‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭9‬:‭3‬ ‭ “And the cherubim lifted up their wings and mounted up from the earth before my eyes as they went out, with the wheels beside them. And they stood at the entrance of the east gate of the house of the Lord, and the glory of the God of Israel was over them.” ‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭10‬:‭19‬ ‭

Two footnotes I have to share from my study Bible: A lesson to learn from chapters 8-11:25 … “God’s abiding, loving presence is the greatest gift of His grace to His people. Ezekiel sees the departure of the glory of God from the temple to the Mount of Olives. In the same way, Jesus - who is the glory of God - departed from the temple and predicted its destruction from the Mount of Olives. It is only through Christ’s death on our behalf, in which He bore the Father’s wrath against our sins, that we can once again be in God’s presence.” Let that sink in for a moment. Isn’t that incredible??? THE LORD LOVES US ALL THAT MUCH! And about TLC’s God shot for today…A footnote that speaks of this: “10:18,19 …the glory of the Lord went out…the east gate…. God departs in stages, slowly, as if reluctant to leave His former home. He departs to the east, the direction from which He will return (ch. 43).” Just had to share that with you all. Never know who may gain insight from my study Bible notes.

Here is my God-shot Throughout Jeremiah, Isaiah, and the other prophets the judgement of God seemed a far odd message. Something other generations would have to worry about. But here God says in Ezekiel 12:28 - “Therefore say to them: This is what the Lord God says: None of My words will be delayed any longer. The message I speak will be fulfilled.” This is the declaration of the Lord God.” ‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭12‬:‭28‬ ‭HCSB‬‬ This may seem harsh but I would rather be rebuked and corrected now than later. As a child I dreaded waiting for my dad to get home to deliver punishment for what I had done wrong. I think this is a testament to God’s grace and love to bring His judgement, His correction, His discipline now to correct a wrong and being Israel back to walking upright before the Lord. That will set straight this generation and future generations. Praise His name.

I wonder why God continually said " Son of Man" when speaking to Ezekiel. In our country, we have rebellious people who do not see and do not hear. Gods wrath is as heavy as His love. God was so angry. Poor Ezekiel to have to handle these prophesies. I know we need to not be caught up with the wicked ways of the population and not to let the world slide quietly into my life. Im running from evil.
