The moss and conifers on Clingmans and a few other places are a preview of what lies ahead in northern New England. Good days, bad days - it’s all about managing those bad days. Walk on!

What a great day on the trail! Clingman’s Dome is a major milestone & accomplishment. The beauty and majesty of the forest and the landscape is overwhelming. Your charming self as a tour-guide is the icing. Rock On

The trail mirrors life, doesn’t it? You are in love with it. It breaks you heart. A new dawn, a new day and finding love again. It doesn’t happen that quickly IRL, but the trail is shorter than real life so everything is on an accelerated path. How quickly you make friends and depend on one another. Sleeping beside a total stranger in a shelter. Salami and Fritos for lunch is a win! The trail is a microcosm of life. If you read all of that, thank you!

Glad you got a relatively clear day at Clingman's and Newfound Gap. Definitely some nice views. Did you take a moment to look back at how far you have come. Everyday you get stronger! Enjoy your journey.

In the smokies, there are some invasive species that have been killing the trees. I think all the hemlocks are dead already or going to die because of a specific fungus I think it is. And there's some Chestnut blight as well. So that explains all the blowdowns and the trees laying around.

Much better day today the yesterday!! You had views today!!! Little haze is better than cold fog. The crowd at that gap was insane!! Thanks for taking us along!

Clingmans dome presented a love/hate situation for me. The views are amazing but from that height the sad effects of acid rain are painfully clear. On a brighter note I am really enjoying your adventure

When I saw the video of your shake down hike at Oak Mountain I had some concerns, but I gotta tell you that you are doing great. Keep it up. I have no doubt you will succeed.

Enjoying your adventure. What a temperature change - freezing one day and sweating the next. We're all rooting for you to conquer the trail and arrive at Katahdin! You'll do it!

Some beautiful trail between Clingmans & NFG 🥾🏔 I love that area. I was at NFG last April the 6th…. Thank you for showing so much of the trail. I’d probably do the same thing you did when seeing all the people… Lol 😂 it’s kinda funny how it can be soooo cold 🥶 & 24 hrs later be so hot 🥵 The GSM 🏔 can give you a little of everything…. Happy hiking Jessie 🥾🎒

lOVED your honesty about seeing the tourist at Newfound Gap -- that was not a rare sighting...but Jessie -- gracious the "Boomer" also known as the Red Pine Squirrel was a real treat for us and you. They only live in the Smokys in the highest of elevations. AND you saw one...like you experienced they are not shy because they do not know people as predators. Very rare -- lived in the GSMNP area and hiked for twenty years on a regular basis and have seen 2 Boomers out of all my hikes in the region.

Sorry but I had to laugh when you said today is so hot I’m pouring sweat then it immediately went to camp and toboggan was on. Lol… Awesome views, thanks so much! Wouldn’t it be great to sit on top of clingmans all day and watch the changes.

Hey HB Jessie! Echo Tim. I am old enough to know those puffy cumulus clouds ARE the real clouds. Many other ones we see...well...that is another story.

Add a pair of medical rubber gloves to your regular gloves. They will keep your hands dry and keep more warmth in and wind out. Even In the rain. My son is a college football player and that’s how he keeps his hands warm in the colder months. And they are super light weight.

I like your videos. You seem to like the forest and moss that you see as your hiking along. There is a guy named Tom Wessels who is a terrestrial ecologist. He has some amazing youtube videos that are worth watching. If you ever have a chance to do nothing, check out it. Google his name.

I wouldn't see it as embarrassing to walk through a bunch of day hikers. YOU'RE the one carrying a pack; YOU'RE the one who's covered 200+ miles on foot to get there. If anyone would feel embarassed it would be the day hiker.

You are starting to sound very entitled Share the trail with everyone, that day hiker could be a former triple crowner just out for a walk
