"I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness. If anyone hears my words and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world" (John 12: 46-47 ESV). This is why Jesus Christ came into the world. I am so thankful that the Lord gave His only begotten Son for all humanity, in order that we could have eternal life. We don't deserve such a gift. We don't deserve the abundance of His grace and mercy. Thank You, Heavenly Father! I can't ever praise His name enough! Brokenness can not repair itself. That's why we need a Savior. Jesus Christ is the final atoning sacrifice for all of humanity's sins. Praise God 👏🏾 🙌🏽.

Love this statement from TLC at 5.36 minutes: “brokenness can’t repair itself into a “state of perfection.”’ I know this is as a DIY’r. I fix broken things: furniture, walls, etc., and while I may fix it, underneath it’s still has the broken thing, just mended/fixed. Only God can truly fix and restore His people. Praise to God for His plan of salvation, restoration. “Jesus answered, “This voice has come for your sake, not mine. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.” ‭‭John‬ ‭12‬:‭30‬, ‭32‬, ‭46‬ ‭ESV‬

Jesus’ whole purpose, and ours too, is revealed in Jn 12:23-29. Jesus says that a seed needs to be buried for it to transform into something greater, fulfilling its purpose in the Kingdom. God allows death to accomplish His purpose, which is “to bring glory to [His] name.” That was both heart-rending for Jesus, as it was deeply fulfilling, because He knows the plans God has for us, for good and not for disaster (Jer 29:11).

Here's a funny (though unlikely) idea: What if the Jews managed to put Lazarus to death before the crucifixion, and then when "the tombs were opened and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised (Matthew 27:52-53)," Lazarus experienced a second resurrection. Mary and Martha would have been like, "You're back!--again."

I’ll bet Lazarus, after having glimpsed Heaven twice, would say “Enough already, just let me join the heavenly banquet!”

I wonder if that was the spikenard meant for Lazarus? “Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.” ‭‭John‬ ‭12‬:‭3‬

I don't think it's quite right to say Satan has no power. Scripture indicates in several places that he has great power. It even seems to be legal. When the devil said to Jesus, "To you I will give all this authority and their glory, FOR IT HAS BEEN DELIVERED TO ME, AND I GIVE IT TO WHOM I WILL," (Luke 4:6) Jesus did not correct him and say, "That's not true." It seems that Satan is indeed the "god of this world," just as 2 Corinthians 4:4 says. John even says in 1 John 5:19, "We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one." Keep in mind that John wrote this AFTER Jesus' death and resurrection, so it's still true. But of course, Yahweh's power is infinitely greater! In comparison to Yahweh - who is the Creator and rightful owner of all - Satan has only tiny, temporary power.

All of today's lesson was my Godshot. Started in the middle of last June trying to follow the Bible plan and started with the Old testament. At the beginning of 2023 I started #dailydedication 2023. Which for me means reading the Bible through with all y'all and working on a temperature scarf. That's two year-long projects I like to do but doing them together. Most open behind are the few days that I've been ill. Today I was gobsmacked to notice so many things in this chapter that I've heard all my life in church and be able to go That's where that came from and that's where that came from. So terribly awesome! Thank you TLC.

It seems what she is saying that Satan has no power over God. I agree with you that Satan has been allowed to have a certain amount of authority over things on this earth but only with God's knowledge and allowing him to do so. Job 1 is a good example. We also see Satan's cunning influence in the garden. Satan is not like the gods who have no breath, no power, no authority. Those gods were made by man. Satan is a created being, created by the living God. He is an angel who disguises himself as an angel of light. He might be allowed a certain amount of power over this earth over those blinded by the truth but he has no power over God and those who belong to Him. 😊

@karenfroment7525 Yes, you're right! Those little idols made out of tin and wood certainly had no power. However, the gods of the nations (who sometimes inhabited those idols) were real and had real power. "...on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: I am the LORD" (Exodus 12:12). It's silly to think that Yahweh fought and judged non-existent beings. "God has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgment" (Psalm 82:1). Apparently, Yahweh put divine beings - "the sons of God" - in charge of the various nations (Deuteronomy 32:8), probably after the Tower of Babel. But they became corrupt and had to be judged (Psalm 82:8). I realize this is a bit controversial, but I believe it's biblical. It's also one of the main teachings of the late Dr. Michael Heiser (The Divine Council and a Deuteronomy 32 Worldview), in case anyone's interested in learning more. 😊 God bless!
