got a Bird disrespect today, some lad rocked up to the club was bragging that he was 2,150 and literally laughed when I opened with F4. Across the middlegame all of his minor pieces were dominated and I managed to grind down to a draw. Cheers man.

draws are good and all but if you master the repertoire you should be able to steamroll 2000s. Noone studies the bird!

25:07 While objectively slightly dubious 4...d5 is definitely an interesting option. The most common line below 2500 is 5.exd5 Nxd5 6.0-0 Nb6 7.Bb3 Bg4, followed by Qe7 and 0-0-0 with a very sharp position where I think practically black is already a bit better. If 6.Bb5 Bd6 there are some engine lines, but the most obvious approach 7.Re1 f6 8.d4 0-0 9.Bxc6 bxc6 9.dxe5 fxe5 doesn't work due to backrank and again white is the one who has to prove equality.

i agree! I have done some serious analysis on that variation -- its very playable and dangerous for an unprepared white opponent. Probably the most testing try for the pragmatic black player.

Would love if you were able to make a video on the basic motifs for bird beginners. Always an interesting game with the bird, would be great to learn from the bird master himself,

I hate when they play 4. d3 against the Two Knights. I've been playing 4...Bc5 going into the Italian, like you did, but you're right in calling those positions boring. I might have to go back to 4..h6 and 5...g6 against it.
