You meet all kinds of nice people on the trail. Ive hiked over 500 miles myself on the PCT and John Muir trail but thats the first umbrella Ive ever seen! lol. Lookin good! Be safe!

I’ve been avoiding PD bush for years esp in this zone. IMHO, your pic at video mark 1:30 is not PD which has the leaf configuration like a marijuana plant. The adult plant grows a stalk with a bush top (like a groomed poodle dog’s tail). Maybe I’m not seeing the specific plant in the video shirt clip. You’ll want to be sure u can correctly identify PD because it’s like P Oak on steroids if ur allergic to it. Some plants start to look like it but a closer look would easily rule out PD.

At 1:30 I have that plant labeled as Prickly Phlox. However, the poodle bush definitely does smell like marijuana.
