Old Man and the CDT

Old Man and the CDT

4 күн бұрын

I intend to hike the Continental Divide Trail (CDT) in 2024 and will vlog my experience. Follow me under "Old Man and the CDT."
I am Mike Current, 61-years-old, and retired military. I served for over 30 years in the US Army.
After retirement, I opened two small businesses. But after a few years, I sold both businesses because they were taking time away from pursuing personal goals, like hiking and sailing.
I hiked the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) in 2020 and Appalachian Trail (AT) in 2022. I vlogged (video journaled) my experiences under "Old Man and the PCT" and "Old Man and the AT", respectively.
I sailed around the Chesapeake Bay in my Tayana 37 sailboat over the summer of 2023 and vlogged the experience under the KZbin channel "Old Man and the Sea."
I do not monetize my videos in any manner. However, if you would like to contribute to helping veterans thru-hike as a form of therapy for PTSD, please consider donating to Warrior Expeditions at warriorexpeditions.org/

Awesome, About 15 miles below Lake City is where we go Salmon Snagging in the fall. I love the views from the top of Slumgolian Pass, All the Peaks. I live on the other side of those peaks. That is my view from my porch.

Energizer and Early Bird -- what appropriate names for a hiking "power couple"! Add a little Grapenut and a sunrise on the highest point of the ColoradroTrail and you have all the makings for a great morning on the CDT! Thanks again for sharing your thru-hike(s).

Hi Mike. 17 miles before noon, that is amazing. I bet you were glad to get normal food and beer. I am always amazed on how much the landscape changes along the way. And the bunk house at the RV park is really nice. Be Strong, Be Safe, and thanks for taking us on this Journey.

Those relationships forged on the trail will last a lifetime, just like your brothers in arms-except nobody is shooting at you! 😀

Is Raven's Rest Hostel no more? I stayed there on my CT thru in 2017. Lake City is a nice town, I enjoyed my stay there, though it took me a bit longer to get a hitch. Thanks for another video!

Morning, Mike. Beautiful views. We could hear the wind. It was really blowing. Those RV parks do come in handy, don't they? Hikest point on the CT. Take care. Stay safe. See you tomorrow.
