Tsurigisho literally blew out his whole knee, not just his acl. you can see in real time everything just lets go. id be highly surprised if he returns. Hoping for the best for big geesh.

Yeah. Sadly, this could be it for him. It's a shame. He has been doing his best sumo over the past year, had finally become a makuuchi regular, and was performing decently at his highest rank ever. His medical report said "2 months rest," but I imagine that that will change. Surgery seems highly likely, and that will be a much longer road to recovery. It sounds like he has basically what Wakatakakage had. WTK came back earlier than expected, but he is younger than Tsurugisho, did not have preexisting knee issues, and he weighs a lot less.

Saw Onosato interviewed and he has an open and charming personality. ...and a great smile❤

Takerufuji is one of those Makushita guys that dominated down there, but he actually kept his momentum and looked really powerful last basho.... he is the Purple Power, and he is my pick for the yusho (I know it sounds crazy, but M17s have done this before)....

I happened to start watching Sumo again 7 years ago, when Ura made his Makuuchi debut. I decided he was going to be my guy, and (despite his 2 injuries) have not been dissapointed. He is just entertaining AF, and pretty darn good at sumo (usually, lol).

Word is Tsurugisho's doctor estimate a two months recovery, so hopefully not so bad ^^ Also rooting for Onosato !!! And my god, Kirishima... ouch

Keep your eyes on Juryo. Wakatakakage's 5-0 and looking both strong and dominant. Further down in Sandanme, Aonishiki has started his career 18-0 and looks like he's on the Takerufuji track. Keep up the good work, see you on the next quick strike, and GO URA!

WTK and Hakuoho face off tomorrow. I was hoping they'd save that for later in the basho, but Hakuoho isn't doing as well as any of us would hope. Can't blame him; the poor kid must be under a lot of pressure. I think WTK wins, and I expect him to win the Juryo yusho. I would not be shocked if he went undefeated. So far, Aonishiki looks like the real deal. There is all sorts of young, exciting talent on the rise these days. Also: URAAAAA!!!!!

@LauraJdogmom Hakuoho has gotten outmaneuvered the last couple days by bigger men. I don't see him beating WTK, but it could be a good match if he sorts his footwork out

your quick strike technique, coupled with the sound, should be considered visually lethal !! 😆 Onosato is the heir of kisenosato, cearly a clever choice for him to chose this stable. But it's just the beginning this Basho will be full of surprise i am sure.

Im betting Kirishima is just off because of his stable closing. That would be completely understandable

I wonder if Terunofuji is going to come up with some injury to bow out of the Basho? Or will he try to pull it out? It does not seem that he has enough power in his legs.
