well played attacking game patrick! (Except for that blunder but let's forget about that)

Nice game! That was a pretty strong opponent, thought you would struggle there but you ultimately used your time better while they rushed at the end there - well deserved win! Your openings and your mid game calculation are definitely the strongest parts of your game - I think working on tactics would be the most effective way for you to improve!

Nice attacking win, Patrick. Lessons from your opponent's mistakes: he neglected his development to go pawn-grabbing (and ironically missed the piece grab), and probably more serious, never castled when he had his chances. His king never safe, his pieces on awkward squares, he never even had much counterplay, and you took advantage of all that. Well done. And yeah, forget about the blunder.

Example: go to 11:59 in the video. Instead of trying to calculate this and then this and then he goes here and then I go there and then he does this and I do that. Just simply target undefended pieces. Step 1) are there any undefended pieces? Step 2) yes there are two undefended pieces. A pawn on b4 and a pawn on d4. Step 3) okay how do I grab them? Step 4) okay bring my queen to d2. That will target the b4 pawn!!!! But wait... He can push his a6 pawn to a5 and then I can't take the b4 pawn with my queen. Step 5) okay what if I move my queen to f4? This targets BOTH UNDEFENDED PAWNS!! And if he pushes e7 to e5 to defend the pawn, then I en peasant him with my pawn and then pick up the d4 pawn with my queen! THIS IS HOW U SHUD BE THINKING PATRICK. PLEASE HEART THIS COMMENT TO LET ME KNOW YOUVE READ THIS ❤️

I read them all. Thank you so much for your support and advice! 😊 I definitely need to focus on attacking the underfunded pieces instead of just trying to find tactics that win a piece!

That's a good way to look at it. Qg7 also forks the rook and the undefended pawn at d4.

I think your opponent went to one Oktoberfest too many xD. How did he not take your bishop? He even moved the night back and played b4 to remove the only defender of your bishop. Some crazy short term memory loss lol.

Patrick, at this rate I don't think you will ever reach 2000 :( every time you gets to around 1430 rating you just drop back down its not that you don't have enough skill, it's like you get nervous every time you play an opponent during that rating and the mental barrier prevents you from getting past it. Patrick, I think you should consider getting a coach. Not to be harsh, but some people can get there on their own but others might need some assistance. Besides, you're not doing puzzles consistently

It looks pretty clear to me that this is not about reaching 2000. He likes playing chess and doing so on camera gives him some money from it. That's it. I watch it because it is chill and I can relate to the mistakes.
@chad17554 күн бұрын
@@NatanMitch I think you're correct. If he truly believes he's going to reach 2000 without changing his study and playing habits, he's deluding himself. 1400 is only the beginning of where "real" chess happens, you get real openings with theory being followed, some 2 or maybe 3 move tactics played against you, and not very many straight up blunders. It gets exponentially harder from here. So considering he's been doing this for 1.5 years and has made just about zero progress past 1400, he's never going to make 2000. Really he should just be honest about the intent of this channel.
@TimTim30004 күн бұрын
I look at the 2000 thing as just a hook to get viewers (it worked on me anyway), which I can't fault someone for doing if they want to grow their channel. The thing that keeps people coming back though is to watch an intermediate chess player (as I assume most of us watching are) fight to get a little better each day, without taking himself too seriously. One of us!

Hi Patrick I have some advice you can try that might help you. Sometimes it's easy to get lost on what move to make or what plan to make. So here's what I do. I look around the board. Are there any pieces that he has undefended (especially pawns because those are the ones you can grab the easiest). If you identify an undefended piece start planning a way to get attackers on that piece. Naturally they will defend it but sometimes you can add another attacker if you plan it right and they haven't planned for extra defenders. If you succeed in grabbing their piece, it often knocks their confidence AND opens up their structure for a domino effect. So if you find you are wondering what plans to make, don't think so far ahead about if I go here and he goes there and I take this and he takes that and I move here.... Etc Because it's very hard to do that and you get sucked into that play and will inevitably end up missing something. So, when there's nothing obvious, look for an undefended piece. If there's no undefended piece, improve the position of one of your pieces and sooner or later he will leave something undefended, then go for it.
