Thanks for posting these videos. I'm on day 4 post surgery. My first post-op follow up is in 2 days. They haven't allowed me to do any kind of exercising and so far.. Superspinatus and long head bicep tear

You're most welcome. Hopefully your follow up went well. I was super limited as well. The biggest thing for me was doing passive range of motion with my wife 2 times daily.

What steps did you take to keep the inflammation down? My doctor was against anti-inflammatory drugs that may hinder muscles from healing.

When were you able to put deodorant on the operated arm? I’m afraid to put it on bc the incision from the bicep tendon. It’s been 1 week now

How many cold packs did you get and what sizes? Your videos are very helpful. I am scheduled for surgery on March 1 2022. Never had surgery other than tonsils before. Really was hoping PT would let me avoid surgery. I have bone spurs and tendon tear. I'm about 10 yrs older than you and not a weight lifter.

@Linda Grenna sorry for the delayed reply. I had an ice machine for the first two days and two large ice packs that were 9" x 24". Here is the link to the cold packs I used: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000S5GKHY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 If you get those, make sure you do not get the shoulder specific elasto gel packs, as they will be too difficult (or impossible) to put on your shoulder while in the first weeks of recovery. Follow your healthcare teams advice, be consistent with PT/mobility, and your recovery will go easier. I have a ton of other videos on this channel that will help give you insight on your recovery. I hope it goes well for you! Any questions, please let me know. Here is the video playlist so far... kzbin.info/aero/PLQSf5JL3jJjSHFX3dxy1_j9Hxyv-jKAoo

I'm scheduled for this surgery in about 3 weeks. They don't want me to schedule my first PT session until 4 weeks the surgery. How in the world were you able to start PT on Day 6 after the surgery?
@livelongerlivestronger Жыл бұрын
Healthcare professionals are all different. It is either a mindset and approach to care and/or specific for that patient's needs. We are all different as well, so there is no one-sized fits all approach. I started PT on day 6 with passive range of motion. My healthcare team was conservative, but made sure I kept my range of motion from day one. It was a LOT easier for me to maintain that range of motion because we got on it so early. In fact, my surgeon sent me home with passive range of motion exercises and directed me to start them on Day 2.

Had a Rt rotator cuff surgery one week today. PT will be in 4 weeks as well for me. I don't see my doctor for another week. Hope you are doing well.

Day 5 for me. My first PT is the day after Thanksgiving.
@johnpeckskamp53294 ай бұрын
Interesting, I had my first PT four days after my surgery they sent me home with a list of passive range of motion exercises that I need to do twice daily and then they’re going to see me in four weeks to analyze how it’s going. I guess everyone’s different but I would think you’d want to get the arm moving in a passive manner to break up scar tissue. Best luck.

How soon after surgery can a person sit at a desk and use both hands to type on a computer keyboard?
@livelongerlivestronger Жыл бұрын
It’s going to vary from person-to-person depending on the severity of injury, procedures, health, etc., but for me I could type on my computer keyboard for very short bursts around week 4. I was feeling decent about week 8, and confident around week 12. Hope that helps!

@@livelongerlivestronger Yes it did, thanks. I got an MRI because the shoulder was making "crackling" sounds. The radiologist report says "partial, possible full thickness tear." But it's not hurting, even at night. I can sleep on that side. No problem. I'm aged 77.

@@imjustpassinthru if you can function without pain, try physical therapy before opting for surgery. Shoulder Surgery is a long recovery. It sounds like you’re already doing fine.

Hello guys Wanna ask you if sometime The shoulder would hurt inside when recovering from rotator cuff surgery Im on my 4th week
@livelongerlivestronger3 жыл бұрын
@Heman Gopal yes, the shoulder can definitely hurt inside when recovering from rotator cuff surgery. I had discomfort inside my shoulder for many weeks. It has subsided, but I still get bits of discomfort here and there. My surgeon said this is normal and should go away over time, but it takes many months.
