And so the great seedling shuffle begins. I have been trying to create some more space. Have managed a bit extra. So many more seeds left to sow and prick out. I pronounce it as Monty Don does. My mum was a gardener and that's how she taught me to say it. Also if you google how to pronounce it, it says it the way Monty Don does too. Maybe there is an American and an English way of pronouncing, as in Dahlias? My unusual sowings this year ar climbing spinach and peanuts.Happy gardening 🙂 x

The plant shuffle....crazy what we do for those little beings. I direct sow babies breath......but in little clumps just like your doing. That pink one sounds amazing. They do take a minute to germinate. Appreciate the mention. Question of the day: Wild garlic sourdough sounds interesting.

Apologies I got your handle wrong on screen Robin - I'd already uploaded and was so close to the wire with the release time I just had to leave it. Got it right in the description though. Would you germinate the gyp indoors or out? I've left in the greenhouse.

@@dogontheplot Honestly I've only direct sown it. I've bought cell packs plenty of times from the nursery. The best year was when I grew it in standing wood beds (similar to veggie pods). Cosmos in the middle, babies breath around then alyssum and clabrachoa around that....a graduated bouquet.

I say Gypsophila the same as you - although it doesn't end in ia 🥴😵‍💫🙄 I noticed Americans pronounce it the same way as Monty 🤷 it's been lovely here for the last few days - but cloudy as heck again today 🌿☁️ love from Whitby 💙

The packet of pink gypsophila seeds this morning were really stingy. The snake beans do look weird. Not sure they'll be a keeper - but we'll see. Meant to taste better than okra.

If you want big cornflowers sow them in early Feb/or autumn sow them and plant them out. They are always far bigger and far more vigorous with a head start and they are incredibly hardy

I worked in a florist many moons ago and we pronounced it as you do, or we lazily called it gyp…it’s not the first time ol Monty pronounces things wrong 😊
