Oh look at your busy greenhouse 😊 I hope that sweetcorn grows well this late in the season lovely 😊 I sowed beans ages ago in my pea bed but nothing! But I'm still learning so with me being queen of the north I'm sure I'll grow loads next year 😂😂 Our apples have been very poor, we think it's a crab apple tree so don't think we'll have it next year, on plot 2 so was already there when we took the plot on. Plus there's plot neighbours who grow great apples, I'll just pinch some of theirs 🤭🤣 🤣🤣 vodka 🍸 'it's water!' Yeah yeah pull the other one 😆

Hi Kerry Your garden is amazing and so is your allotment. I don’t have a problem with slugs or birds. My problem is with raccoons and bears. Bears eat all of my grapes and apples. What are you going to do with all of your tomatoes. You know how people say zucchini is so easy to go. Well none of mine are going, none of any squash’s are growing. But I keep say to myself their is always next year.
@dogontheplot3 күн бұрын
Aw thank you Linda. Bears!!! That puts things into perspective!! My goodness. Erm, most of the tomatoes I will eat fresh - the midnight roma variety are cookers so will have a go at making sauce with those. Depends how many actually ripen - otherwise it's green tomato chutney! Oh I agree totally - last year I managed to get two plants to start producing but really late. I've never had a proper courgette glut. Yes, I was just watching Katrina @homegrown.garden and she was saying everyone gets a bad year but it doesn't mean the next year will be the same 💕

Ah I'd be interested to see what you think. It got mixed reviews here. My nephew gave it 10/10, but my cousin wouldn't eat it - said the sponge was 'wet'. I've been powering through it - lol - but it was too sweet for me (in part because I put far too much icing on it and that icing was really just a glace icing and not properly fudgy). If I were to make it again I'd cut the sugar down, bake it in two halves rather than one big loaf to make sure it cooks all the way through, and try a diff icing. Let me know how you get on!

Hi 👋🏻 Your courgette cake looks delicious & I love a pickle - had to chuckle with your water adding (using your flower vase water crossed my mind 🤣) Ooh I love the way you've made the brassica cage with the bamboo and those balls - will have to try that if I have the patience. I can't believe the tree spinach popping up everywhere - was this from last years seed? (Or did you sow them all intentionally?) I'm growing one this year for the first time and LOVE it, but now wondering if I'll have lots next year... 😃
@dogontheplot3 күн бұрын
Haha - it does look like that doesn't it!! It's probably supposed to be a terrarium jar but I use it as a water filter vessel (I use those charcoal bamboo filter stick things). We had really high winds here last night so I need to do to the plot and see if the brassica cages are still standing... they're definitely very makeshift! 🤣 Self-seeded. I had quite a few plants that I put onto the plot last year and it really does self seed like mad. It pops up when I use the homemade compost too - that's why it gets into the cells trays - but the ones on the plot are just from last year's fallen seed. Good thing I love it! 🤣 Thanks for watching Dora 🤗

Lovely update again! 🐶🥮🍎🐴🦢🌱🌺 🌦🐌(Close enough, no emoji for slug.) Your lunch and the cake looks delicious. Mark had a great idea about those foam rolls. My cover for the plastic greenhouse looks the same, only green, and after two summers (it was off during last winter, I used a transparent tarp), it has lots of holes where the cover rubs against the metal in the wind. Strengthening the roof with chicken wire probably didn't help either, except for holding the frame up against the snow. Not happy with those tiny plastic bits flying all over.

@dogontheplot3 күн бұрын
Mixed reviews for the cake - if I made it again I'd reduce the sugar and bake it in two tins so it cooks better. I think it has been a hugely challenging year - I still can't believe every single bean on the A frame was eaten by slugs. I've got about 5 plants still holding on over the archway and some greek gigantes doing fine in the home garden, but when I think this time last year I was drowning in runner beans! Sigh.

it was a bit of a crap week... its better when you're at work 🤣. Your tomatoes at the plot, you need some of the drip water things for them 1 bag does 6 plants I think (page 130 of the new Kings catalogue that I see you've got ) 3 of those should do you I think. you can put a weak feed in it so they get continuous feeding too (1/4 strength something like that). As to the cake ... I hope you felt sick afterwards🤣

Ok - the water pressure! 🤣🤣 it's because from the outdoor tap there is a hose that travels underground (I guess!) to the greenhouse, where I attach another hose that goes part way down the garden, where I attach the flexi hose which I actually water with. There are so may points of drippage and the water travels about three miles 🤣🤣 I should look into something more efficient... I think charlottes are on my forever list. 2 good years. Future pumpkins... we shall see!!! I'm hoping!
