Hello from Pacific Northwest USA. I just found your channel. I've been searching for Camino Winter videos because I loathe hot weather, even though I was born in Thailand. Thank you so much for sharing your adventure. I made it to your Day 7 and just wanted to say hello. I plan to walk toward the end of this year (finger crossed). By the time, I get to walk the Camino, I can call myself "middle age" but my heart is a fighter. lol Do you mind, let us know how much is your spending on an average (a day) on Camino? No rush, take your time, I'll wait. hahahaha :) Thank you again, Farmer :)

An Albergue ranges from €8-15 per night. In the winter you don't have much options for a cheap bed in some places. Meals are up to how well you want to eat. You could eat at a bar (not all starting towns will have one and you'd have to walk maybe up to an hour to get to an open one.) Or in the winter the world is your refrigerator so I was able to take meats and cheeses for several days with bread without worrying that they would go bad. Supermarkets are your best friend when it comes to budget friendly eating. I was able to find in the "Dia" market ready made pasta meals that may have just needed to go into the microwave ( or eat cold like I did) for around €2.50-€3. And also depends on how many drinking days you want to do. Normally pilgrims will share an evening with a bottle or 2 of wine. But wine in spain can be bought for as little as €2.50 if you don't mind vino-cheapo 😁 Also most towns will have a pilgrim meal for €12-€15 for 2/3 courses with a glass of wine or beer. But can add up if you have one every night. Some Albergues also have a fully stocked kitchen if you or everyone wants to cook a big meal and share the expenses. Rest days you may also want to have a private room / hotel also. Hope that helps.

@@hikewithjames Thank you so much. I'm pretty frugal and I don't drink a lot. I just want to walk the Camino and get it done, since I've been waiting to walk for more than.... almost 3 decades. I know you almost done or probably done with the Camino by now. Did you see a lot of women walking? From your video to Day 7, I didn't see many!

@@farmerhavingfun it's very heavily male dominated. Saying that there were about 10 girls I saw walking a longer distance. Just don't plan to skimp out on things. You just need to let the Camino take you. I did my first Camino in 2019 solo. But ended up walking as part of a group of over 20 people. We had dinners etc. And im glad I did. Don't cheap out on the experience if you can.
