Riding in heat is not the best, and having any humidity is even worse. 2023 we did Route 66 from end to end in of all months July. As soon as we hit Oklahoma it never got below 104 degrees until we walked on the Pier in Santa Monica. When we pulled into Bull Head City, AZ it was 118 degrees and was one of the most miserable rides I have ever done, sad part is we had to turn around and ride back to Florida in the same heat. Once you get your gear right you can handle it better. Get a jacket that has vents, it several cooling bands for your neck, you wear one while the others are in a ziplock bag in your cooler, wear a bandana on your head so each time you stop you can dip in the cold water in your cooler. Also, wearing leather chaps will keep your legs cooler as well. Yall did good, congratulations completing the trip. And converting Road Wang is pretty cool too and what a friend to stick with you and listen to the crying about being hot….I am sure he was as well. I look forward to your next adventure. Maybe come east to TN/NC mountains in the early fall??

I am not embarrassed to admit that most of our trips we trailer the bike to our destination. It is only 430 miles for us to get to Sturgis but it sure is nice to not be worn out when we get there. Have to hand it to you Jack, you are a trooper!

What a grind, and I’ve been in similar situations a jillion times; the stories I could tell. Lol. Brother, your content rolling back from Sturgis is some of thee best on KZbin. The amount of content showing you guys rollin down the highway, the elements you endure, still with a smile, some humor, the backdrop music, makes each video entertaining as heck. If your videos are getting guys off the couch to go ride, they better check for a pulse. Your content is as well done as anyone with 100K subscribers, really connect with your work. You’re a shoe-in for the Rookie of the Year Award! 😁👊 Heat is legit. I rolled out of Durango one morning at 5am with a buddy and it was around 35, 38 degrees. Every 40 miles or so and had to put my hands down next to the heads on the bike to get some engine heat. We finished up that same day in the AZ desert where it was 115 degrees the last hour of our ride; 38 to 115 in the same day will test you just a bit. 🤣😂 You’re doing it right brother.

When you said middle of nowhere! 😅 you were in my neck of the woods. I was recognizing that countryside. When you came to HWY 64 right after the Oklahoma line you were 35 miles west of my hometown Alva. Then you jogged back crossed the big bridge over the Cimmaron and went right by my old quail lease, then south on 34 to Woodward and onto Watonga. What a brutal trip. 🥵 Would loved to have caught up with y’all but I know you two weren’t letting any grass grow. You had em pointed that way to home and I get it. We’ll meetup one day soon and hopefully share some miles in cooler weather. You ended the trip the same way I do thanking the Lord for safe travels home. Glad you had a safe trip. 🤙🏼🇺🇸

I've enjoyed watching your trip, especially since I couldn't make it this year. I might suggest getting a white helmet, black is just too hot here in Texas. Also, I find that a good mesh jacket is like wearing shade. Keep putting out entertaining content. Thanks.

Was a great Sturgis vlog! The throwing in the towel ending cracked me up. I think most all of us have felt that way. Look forward to the live stream and hopefully I will be at the house and not watching while trucking so I can join in on the chat. Congrats on all the new subscribers.

In 2026 I’ll be riding from NH to sturgis and beyond. I figured I had this year and next year then I’ll probably stop being a wildland firefighter. Just did get home from a 34 day trip first in CA where it was 110-115 then up to OR temps were cooler 95-100. Oh ya I’m 63.

That sounds like a good plan 👍🏼 The thing is, that time of year, it’s so hot and the scenery all the way up is just flat nothing. So why ride all that way to be worn out when it’s time to ride the good roads. Lesson learned!

How did the cooling vest work out? On the way back last year stopped in Dodge City for a couple hours. Some neat attractions. Was headed to east Texas and made it to Woodward Oklahoma mid afternoon. Was so damn hot just got hotel and finished out the next day.

Good Lord....A hotel trolly for yer luggage! A true biker rides with his clothes on his back and a spare pair of underwear! Good for four days plus the ones you start with! Front side..back side..inside.. outside..then change so another 4 days! Longer trips do require a Walmart stop for resupply!
