I always got a good sleep in a tent when the rain is falling. Makes one glad to be inside and under cover. Used to always go hiking with my dog and he recognized the value of being inside.

Good that you got your tent up before the crashing storm. Lightning and thunder can be unnerving when you're in a tent, but you'll do fine. Many challenges along the way! Take care, you can do it!

I hiked up to Blackrock summit in May, i have have a video and stayed in Loft Mountain campground the first week of may going south and 5 days going north the end of May. loved it and met lots of AT hikers. and spend a lot of times at that camp store and bought plenty of beer soda and water for the hikers. Glad to see you got the tent up before the rain started. That was good luck and fortunate timing. Wondering what’s up with your finger tips. Never seen anything like that. I continue to be amazed by our daily elevation gain & loss. That’s a tremendous amount of work going up & down. Happy Camping

I would think rain is the number one reason people don't finish. I sincerely hope it doesn't get to you like that. You're doing so well. I'm so looking forward to a joyful video from the summit of Katahdin. Those were really nice views by the way. They only get better too. Wait till you see the Whites!

I am not sure how far your videos are off of your actual progress but if you need anything (or have a specific request for something good!) when you get to PA, please let me know. I am fairly close to the trail in the southern and central part of the state and if I can make it work with my kids schedules, I will try to get you what you need! We’ve been watching since you started, can’t wait to see if you try the half gallon challenge!

. . . Show the Trail, more . . . 😉 Ya gotta love the manicured trail in SNP. btw . . . VA is so long, you get what hikers' call the 'Virginia Blues' . . . Ya gotta dig hard, here. MD is the goal.

You’re doing great; 900 miles. Having a hard roof over your head seems great until you’re sharing it with crowds of wet, dripping, sometimes loud people. It’s a bummer when the waysides are closed; only one was open when I did SNP. You’re into the “easier”section of your hike for a while. Enjoy!

I have a suggestion for you. When you point your camera at the scenic vista, tell us what we are looking at. Tell us what you see, and smell, and feel in a place. There is more to hiking than miles and food. People and places are more interesting than miles and snacks.

I'm not a doctor, but your hands look like what I get every Spring - Dyshidrosis. How do I combat it? A Salicylic cream like CeraVe and/or hydrocortisone cream/liquid like Scalpicin.

Speaking as someone with a mold allergy, please do me a tiny favor and replace your water bottle weekly. You can drop your old Smart Water bottle in the garbage and grab a new one every town stop. Don't wait so long to the point it looks that grody. Ewww. I'm just thinking of the hives I'd get just being in proximity to that bottle.

Btw, the microplastics that flake off into your potable water from reusing a bottle and squeezing it over and over, should be enough reason alone to replace the bottle as often as you can. It's very hard for the human body to eliminate such toxins once in the system.

Moisture-Associated Skin Damage (MASD): is an umbrella term for four types of skin problems caused by prolonged exposure to moisture. Factors that can cause or worsen MASD are: excessive stress on the skin, such as friction or pressure (carrying trekking poles all day) and humidity (welcome to the AT in June). Suggested Treatment: An ointment should be applied to the skin to act as a protective barrier, you should try to keep skin clean and dry, and if possible reduce any pressure or friction to the areas (pack the trekking poles unless you need them) What Kind of Ointment?: Petrolatum-based barrier ointments are popular for the prevention and management of MASD. Made with 100% pure petrolatum, Vaseline Healing Jelly is probably the least expensive and readily available (at any pharmacy, grocery, gas station) When to Use?: Apply to feet, hands, and finger tips, nightly, before you go to sleep (so right after you record your nightly video segment) Bonus: Also works great for chaffing. 900 Miles is no small accomplishment. You're doing fantastic! As for your "mental game", you have to STOP focusing on the 20, 21, 22 mile day or focusing on the elevation gain/loss. The night before, look at the map, note your next destination(s) for water (necessary) and for camp the next night (required) - and that's it. Sleep on it, get up, break camp and go get it! Repeat.
