I bought this game! I started it and then suddenly it was 5am and the sun was coming up. I slept till 9 and then played till 6. I’ve slept four hours. This game makes my brain go BRRRRRRRERRRR

​@@VelisatraThey didn't exist yet, you can look it up if you want to confirm. Santa Water upgrade was added in February 2022 and Runetracer upgrade came out in April 2022. This video was posted in January 2022.

On the topic of Offworld trading company that he talks about at 12:30, the main weakness of that game for me when I played it was that you lost really suddenly with no buildup and it felt like a slap in the face.

Played along with the video/ game windoved love the enthusiasm. Also interesting to hear game perspective from people who make games and enjoy them Also unlocked the new characters and new map that released, and beat my first hyper run. Offworld trading company i have played a bit not recently though and mostly singel player, the campaign is bit unusual for an rts but works nicely. It is a a tense games imagine i would get adrenaline pumping in a live match were i dont have pause and save as coping mechanism

Pick it up. It's 3 bucks. You'll get at least 4-8 hours of fun. This is from somebody who bounces off games all the time. I have 8 hrs so far. I probably won't get much more than that though.

It starts slow, but it has a very power washer level of satisfaction when you get strong enough and castlevania the s*** out of thousands of nerds. At three bucks, you can’t lose for giving it a shot!

Rainbow birb best birb. At full upgrades you basically just sweep it across the screen and one side dies, even the 29min waves.

fyi Santa Water does upgrade with Attractorb. The pools travel to you, but overall it isn't too exciting.

That was added in a recent patch, I don't believe that patch was out yet when this was recorded. Evolved santa water has become one of my favorite weapons, it truly deals massive damage. :)

It’s been a while since I’ve played any Castlevania but the characters and enemies are basically identical too as best as I can remember lol. Give it time and I bet we’ll see an update where they change all the graphics once the C&D comes in🤣 You think they have all those new sprites ready to go and are just waiting for it to happen?

I think the ascended items are an interesting idea. But it does take away a bit of the magic of the basic game. At that point you feel kind of locked into a lot of your decisions to get the combos because the power of the evolved is such a huge spike.

You'd think so but most of them actually are pretty bad compared to the alternatives, due to how the game just throws a constant full screen of damage sponges at you later on. And because of some interaction quirks/synergies with projectile boosts. Basically with tome+binder+candle+dupe you can create a constant death AoE, the upgraded Bible doesn't hurt but max rank unupgraded is permanent anyway and thus serves as your knockback safezone. Santa, tracer and lightning kill stuff to keep the XP flowing and the birds clean house. The one exception is the merged bird but most of its strength lies in how it *differs* from other "evolved" weapons: it has a full upgrade path of its own (actually starts as a slight downgrade from max dove+ebony then becomes stupidly strong at its own max) and it _removes_ the secondary item without costing you any benefits thus freeing a weapon slot. Piercing and AoE are a problem because the game goes for quantity over quality in terms of enemies (and respawns them immediately so faster kills mean more xp). Projectiles are a problem because there is preciously little support which only benefits non-projectiles, compounded by most piercing and AoE also counting as projectiles. On top of that all the interesting "weaknesses" Day9 praised in previous videos don't really apply to (endgame) AoE so once you learn the earlygame all of that falls by the wayside in favour of standing in the centre of a giant circle of death.

audio desync was actually also happening during stream live and Day9 fixed it live not too far into the video
