The mural at the beginning is probably a pastiche of the Dutch artist Hieronymus Bosch. He is very popular in Spain and some of his best work hangs in the Prado in Madrid. Many of his paintings present hellish scenes. I can only identify one figure and that is the pilgrim at 1:22 who has a pack on his back, a staff in his hand and a white bandage around his ankle. He looks back anxiously over his right shoulder. This is a copy of the figure in Bosch’s painting called The Wanderer. I love this artists work and no matter how many times I view his art, there is always something new to spot. I particularly love The Garden of Earthly Delights. What it all means is kind of moot! Almost nothing is known of his life. He wasn’t the kind of guy for explaining himself. Extraordinary work.

Walked from Logrono to Navarrete when I walked the Francais is 2015. Was going to walk further but had drank waaay too much vino the night before when I went on a tapas bar crawl with some fellow pilgrims, lol. I remember being woke up by an amused hospitalera who basically told me I didn't have to go home, but I couldn't stay there as they had to do housekeeping. Anyway, Navarrete was a cool little town and watching this video brought back the memory.

Haha, hardly! 😄 And when you walk and walk and walk with no end in sight, that distant, far-off town is like an oasis in the desert!!! Especially when all you want is a shower and to rest your weary feet. 😊👣
