I really liked the segment of the story that you read. I think it's a great start. In particularly I like the feel that the father has. Gruff and straight forward sort of guy. But I still feel bad for them even after just hearing that. Makes me want to see what happens next.

Use the name Blade if he's all about knifes. It's clear and straight to the point (if that makes sense to use it in the story's context).

I'm a bit late, but wow. I have to agree with everyone - what you shared is excellent. Love how you hook us right from the start with a little crisis and then gave us just a hint that something's different about the narrator (and the world). Already loads better than many e-books out there. I'm a day behind so I don't know if you still need names, but I'll make a suggestion anyway. Maybe some of the bandits would go by their last names or a nickname? First names are intimate, in a way. Bandits might have grown up with Guards calling them by their last names (if they have one) or by their father's trade. Or they may have picked a nick name to sound tough.

Wow great stuff I have to agree with Demitry0013 you do not give your self enough credit. I really would love to hear more of the story and I am looking forward to the next little something something you throw our way. I think perhaps Cicero for the bandit guy because ...reasons? lol But after that bit of the story I feel like the mill is sentient so her name should be Cordelia. Why well a "Cord" is how they measure a volume of wood here, its a female name and who has met a Cordelia that they don't just love? The other bandits just take the other names for Caspar and pass them out. Your pup must be just a mess when he plays in the mud. Whats your favorite tea and how do you take it? Well looking forward to tomorrows episode Sleep Well.

Cordelia sounds good :) better than Milldred! Reggie is always a mess XD but I love him! And I'm a fan of English breakfast with milk; earl grey with less milk; and lemon and ginger by itself :)
