I really enjoyed this. I was hospitalized at the start of 2022, and you are so right. a video can never show the true experience of a psych ward its so much more than what you can film. Im still in recovery and getting much better,great video!!

I'm going through alot right now and I'm contemplating checking myself into a hospital voluntary but I can't really be too long without my boyfriend because he's the only person who can keep to down to reality at the moment. Is it worth the long stay at the hospital? I've been hospitalized before but only for one week both times like 5 years ago before I turned 18 and my mental health rapidly declined. I don't know what you've been through but seeing how productive you are in the hospital makes me feel like maybe it's time but I'm afraid.

Hey! I would say to firstly speak to an outpatient mental health doctor or your team, your boyfriend can visit if ur wards not on lockdown or if u have leave, it also depends what you are checking yourself in for maybe before hospital there is options in the community first? It is very hard to stay productive in hospital but I’ve learnt I have to push myself however there is lack of resources in hospitals and people recover better at home especially if last time it didn’t help! I am no professional though so this is only what I think and may be incorrect Sending love

Hi I’m from the uk I’m 19 and heavily depressed and some of that’s down to not having any friends or anything which is causing me to have extreme loneliness, I feel like if I went to a psych ward I would make a friend , what’s your advice? 😔😔

Honestly no, the friendships are toxic rhere not a proper friendship, the trauma from pysch wards aren’t worth a friendship that doesn’t last once your out of hospital, maybe try group therapy and see if u can make friends that way?

What are some of the bad aspects of the psychwards and how are friendships like?

There are ALOT of bad aspects, it’s genuinely trauma central, you leave with more trauma than you go in with which is obviously not the case, friendships vary some are amazing and good , some are toxic and triggering and you get competitive ppl x

The friends can be really triggering and usually aren’t the best friends. Also some psych wards are low key abusive, but if u need to go I recommend ! My first stay was awful but my second hospital and residential was great

This was a general acute unit (GAU) that could also ng feed me for my Ed so yeah they dealt with eds and ngs too

I’m not a professional but yes, if self harm becomes very dangerous then yes, anxiety not as much and depression yes if they feel ur life is at risk due to it
