Hi Sharon! I am currently majoring in clinical psychology and recently found your channel. Your videos are so helpful to gain perspective on what working in the field will actually be like. I also recently started a KZbin channel so it is encouraging to see that it is possible to balance your professional career and KZbin! Great content!

I am studying to be a counsellor. I thought I got to treat patients directly. But not liking this work of attending calls and scheduling appointments of other counsellors. This may kill my passion. I just want to treat patients. Don’t want to do lot of admin work. 😢

I genuinely wanna ask....is it worth it? All the work, rejections and stuff but you're finally near your dream! So do you enjoy it? Are you happy with your work?

Every time I have asked this to a clinical psychologist they always look like they don’t want to disappoint you by saying no

😂I gotta admit I like the inpatient setting I'd just love to do more psychological thinking and intervention with them.. just applied for an AP role in inpatient (older adults!) Do you have any tips about the kind of interview questions to expect around older adults? I'm also glad you mentioned the stigma..I personally don't see a lot of times where the alarm is used. People get frustrated or angry for sure but usually you can prevent escalation and avoid the need for certain measures🥺

My study background is a bachelor's in Computer science and now I am studying a master's in cognitive science with a specialization in cognitive psychology and neuroscience. I took some technical classes too but I enjoyed these two majors so much and in the future, I want to work as a clinical psychologist. My next plan is to do PhD as well from any German university. But every time I discuss this with any senior I get the same reply that I cannot be a clinical psychologist. Would you guide me on what should i do or any other field I should search about if I can't be a clinical psychologist.?I just want a bright future i struggled a lot in finding my interest. And now I need help from seniors.

hey! financially it can be tricky in the beginning, most support work jobs (which is the most common first role after undergrad) are paid at around band 3 (i think around £20,000 per year now), then assistant psychologist posts are often band 4 or 5. You could also do the PWP route to clinical training or just PWP/CBT therapist career route - which takes you from band 4 (trainee PWP) to band 5 (PWP), band 6 (senior PWP) and band 7 (CBT Therapist). If and when you get a place on the Dclinpsy you are paid to train (band 6) and a newly qualified clinical psychologist is paid at band 7, and within a year or two will be band 8a. You can find all the different banding by googling nhs bands. I will say it can be challenging managing the rejections during the journey, but if its something you're passionate about then I'd really recommend it :)

Good day Sharon, thanks for sharing this. I have a question regarding psychology courses, what's the different between psychology and biology with psychology course. And which one is necessary to do further studies in clinical psychology
@Fatima-qu3ml2 жыл бұрын
For clinical psychology u need a psychology degree, a conversion psychology degree or a degree that mainly focuses on psychology but can have aspects of other stuff like biology but u can’t do it with biology degree that has aspects of psychology
