I love your planner mondays! :) Keep them up, it puts a smile on my face every Monday! I'm in college too & my day usually starts with caffeine in the form of coffee or tea. I like to block my classes together so I go to class for several hours, either 9-4 or 10-1 depending on the day. I like it because then I can go back home and focus on homework, studying, clubs, & de-stressing (that one's the hardest haha). I like to watch youtube during my homework breaks. I struggle sometimes (okay, a lot!) with finding balance in college with coursework, a job, running a club, and hanging out with friends, & it's nice to see how you fit in youtube with a busy college life
@caitlinmariedasilva7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Emily!!! I like your method of grouping your classes together....much better then having small gaps of time throughout your whole schedule 👌 Balance definitely isn't easy....I'm starting to come to terms with the fact that you kind of just have to take it day by day, and put your time where it's most needed :)

I'm a first year at uWaterloo and wow university is so different from high school! I'm having a really hard time keeping caught up with readings (especially since I don't really like them :P) and I'm trying to also find ways to make time for working out and stuff. I've noticed that my eating habits are awful cause I just don't really care about healthy food anymore haha. Still looking for that balance like you are!
@caitlinmariedasilva7 жыл бұрын
HUGE piece of advice: try and keep up with your readings because the more you put it off, the quicker you'll get behind (speaking from experience lol)! Yeah there's a bit of an adjustment period...I find there's that time at the start of every school year....takes a while to get back into the swing of things 😅
@anjxo77066 жыл бұрын
Girl I feel you. I am also at UWaterloo going into second year now so we are probably in the same year... I get the struggle! :) The eating habits are a struggle and omg I tried working out too... Im sure u know of the REV residence gym.. tried so hard to make that a habit lol.

Oh, how I can relate to you so much; especially the amount of work given in a span of 3-4 weeks! I'm a third-year undergraduate studying communication & new media! Been in school for about a month now and it's already struggle. Juggling a part-time job (5-16 hours a week), modeling, and 5 classes (4 academic + 1 elective) at a university here in BC. 3 papers, 2 group presentations, two journal writing projects, midterms and even weekly reading quizzes.

It’s so motivating watching your videos and seeing you somehow deal with all the stress! I just got my schedule for this upcoming semester and I’ve literally got 10 classes and heaps of lectures and only sundays off and I am currently absolutely stressing out about that and have no idea how to have at least a bit of actual free time as I need to do homework and studying outside of lectures! I’m sure I’ll manage somehow but definitely stressing out right now!
@caitlinmariedasilva7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Aileen! That seems like it'd be a stressful situation but make sure you schedule in "free time" as if it's a class, because it's just as important...I personally don't operate properly if I don't take time for myself 😂

A typical day in my life: my alarm clock rings at 6am and then I get ready and leave the house at about 6:45 am to walk to the train station. When I arrive in the city I go to school to its about 7:30am. Classes start at 8 am and go until 1pm and I come back from school at around 2pm and cook lunch. Then there's lots of homework to do and then free time until I go to bed at around 10pm :)

I currently take 1 class in person and 2 classes online and on the days I don't have class in person, I wake up at about 7:30, shower and get ready and then I will do homework for a few hours before I go to work from 11-4. Then I normally go home and do more homework for a few hours and end the day with a relaxing bath or hanging out with my family or boyfriend. But it all depends on how much homework I have or if I work a double or not.

Ok so I'm starting college this time next year (hopefully) any advice? Is wearing a school bag weird or do most girls bring handbags? How does it differ from secondary school? (I'm from Ireland if that makes a difference)
@heleddflower80827 жыл бұрын
Rachie2k13 I finished my MSc in Scotland last year and we were a really international bunch ranging in age from early 20's-late 30's and more or less everyone used a backpack. Shoulder bags can damage your back if you need to carry stuff a lot
@Sophiesmakeupbag7 жыл бұрын
You'll be fine! I've just finished my undergrad in London and have just started my MA. With regard to your bag, just be practical about it and make sure that it's comfortable! That's especially true if you're going to be reading a humanities subject as there will be SO. MANY. BOOKS. It differs from secondary school in many ways, the largest being that you are very much more in control of your success as a student than you are at school. It's cliché, but you get out of the experience what you put in, and tutors will take you more seriously if you show up and lean in. Good luck, and hope that you enjoy it!
@caitlinmariedasilva7 жыл бұрын
Oh yay! Congrats! People, in my experience, bring a mix of bags and backpacks...I live close to campus so I'm usually not carrying anything too heavy, so I flip flop between the two :) But if you have to carry stuff for multiple classes on you, a backpack is definitely better for that !
