I made this video to show what it's like during the day to day in an accelerated flight school! My flight school is Blue Line Aviation out of Raleigh, NC, and this was filmed on one of my busier days while doing their 6 month Career Pilot Program! 😁

Yeah, most students use the apartments Blue Line is partnered with.

Yeah, I'm always bugging the owner of Blue Line to open a location in Florida lol. There was a local flight school to Orlando, but I don't remember their name.

@@toastykj3107 Well now ATP has a location there. I don’t recall what flight school was there, but I know it was at Orlando Exec (ORL). To be clear, it was knocked off my list pretty early on into my research, but I don’t remember why.

Very similar to how it is now, they have a partnership with an apartment complex near the airport, and from my understanding the $500 / month rate would stay the same (inclusive of utilities).

Hello Andy. Great videos. Thanks for all the valuable info. Regarding your training, did you pick Part 141 or 61 training? And why?

I'm glad you like the videos! You don't really choose between the two (for most courses). The school has it set for you. So Blue Line has a mixture of 141 and 61 programs. An example is their Private course is 141, but their CFI course is 61. I hope that makes sense.

Quick question, if you do have financing through them, when you become a CFI, is that when you start paying back the loan? And how is one able to afford to eat and earn money if they are on a tight and busy schedule during the accelerated program.

When you start paying back your loan is dependent on the perks of your lender. For example, I’m still in a deferment period, so I don’t have to pay anything back until 2023, but my loan still accrues interest. Some lenders require payback immediately after graduating. Graduates are able to afford it by being financially disciplined. It’s definitely possible, being that most CFI’s are currently doing just fine.

Hey I have a question. What kind of basic personal equipment is needed for the private pilot program? Is an iPad required or is it provided? Thanks!

I would reach out to a training advisor of the flight school you're interested in. They should provide a list of equipment and materials they expect you to have for training. As for the iPad, it's not required....but I cannot stress this enough...GET ONE!

The entire Blue Line operation will move to Johnston Regional.

Unfortunately not yet. I don't want to post a video about it until I actually receive the reimbursement from the VA. It'll give me peace of mind that the info I provide is official because I went through it.

The cool thing about being as young as you are (assuming you’re not like 30 in high school for some reason 😅), is you could close your eyes for the next 10-15 years and still have more than 2/3 of your life left to figure out what you want to do. The important thing is to go out and try a bunch of things until you find what you truly want.

Ill be attending Blue line in a couple months do you have any suggestions for ipads, which size would work best for their airplanes and also do i need cellular with it? I want to get the ipad pro 11in but worried it may be to big for their cockpits thanks!! Also mounting suggestions

I'm glad you liked the videos and glad to hear that you'll be going to Blue Line! I will always recommend the iPad Mini (5th generation, cellular, and no you don't need a cellular plan with it). It is the perfect size. There are very few people here who have anything larger. When it comes to mounting, just stick with a kneeboard. I actually don't even use a kneeboard anymore, but it's smart to get one to see if it works for you. There really isn't any great mounting solutions for Diamond aircraft. I hope that answers your question!

I recommend watching my ATP vs Blue Line video. I go over those details in there, but for a brief answer, I lived with family in the area. I go over student housing in the above mentioned video though 😁

Wow Andy, it already seems like you’ve gotten really good - already comfortable with so many flying skills, including radio communication. Perhaps I missed you mentioning it in the video, but how long had you been in training (i.e. how many days since arrival at the school) leading up to this day?

It all happens pretty quickly. It's still weird to carry the title of pilot. It seems far fetched 😅. It took right around 6 months to finish the program and leave with the following certificates/ratings: - Private - Instrument - Commercial - CFI - CFII - CMEL - MEI
