It's true to see 70 patients in the morning, but we accomplish it cooperatively by a 2-3 doctors group. Now I move to the USA, try to achieve the M.D. and ph.D. While I think the "cost" argument for not attending a U.S. medical school is reasonably valid, I think there are other factors that probably contributed to that decision making process that aren't being discussed, such as: 1) Most U.S. medical schools don't accept non-U.S./Canadian applicants, requiring applicants to be citizens of the U.S. or Canada or be a U.S. green card holder. 2) Most U.S. medical schools will only accept academic prerequisites completed at an accredited college or university in the U.S. or Canada. 3) For the few international students accepted to U.S. medical schools (I would assume portion into MD/PhD programs), it may be very difficult for them to gain entrance into a non-FM residency as there are fewer residencies available than U.S medical graduates (yes, I think this is stupid too) and U.S. students receive preference in that selection process. That is not to say that there aren't non-U.S/Canadian/green card holders at U.S. medical schools, I'm just saying the process is very difficult and should be a factor of consideration for anyone applying...which was probably the case here. Again, the cost argument is a valid one...and I am genuinely interested as to where he plans to practice. He mentioned having "Chinese in your back pocket" but he appears to be Thai of Chinese descent...did he already speak Mandarin? Is he learning it in China while a medical student? Again, final practice location is important because while some U.S. medical schools are expensive (there are also quite a few that are cheap by state or resources i.e. Mayo Clinic) but U.S. doctors are also the best paid in the world outside of the Netherlands and Australia. If I had to take a guess, I would assume he eventually ends up practicing in Australia where there is a significant Chinese demographic. Or maybe at an international hospital in Thailand where salaries of foreign trained doctors are higher than that of locally trained doctors.

okay, before you guys get super excited about studying medicine in China, hear something from me as an international student from China and right now studying medicine in the US. First, it's just hard to study medicine in another language, and Chinese is a pretty hard language to learn, that will already take you years after years before you can barely order a dish, and it is not used as commonly as the guy said in this video, Chinese is the most spoken language, yes, but, it is ONLY most spoken in China, Taiwan, some part of East Asia, and after that it's not even close to how useful Spanish is. Second, medicine in China is weird, doctors often have to order no evidence-based "Chinese traditional drugs" because that's profitable but do no good to the patients, and it's common to receive bribery called red pocket (收红包) and all the weird ranking systems with the communist party, not even talking about much medical knowledge and techniques are still like 20 years behind America, so if you study medicine in China, YOU WILL HAVE A HELL TIME MATCHING INTO AMERICAN RESIDENCY. Also, doctors in China are not well respected, and attacking or literally murdering doctors happens every year, all I want to say is, I would rather someone try Caribbean schools than go to China to study medicine there.

few things to consider: 1) The degree is more or less of a master's degree. Not a MD/DO. Reason being kids go to med school right after high school there. 2) Docs in China are not respected, but known for cheating on patients, and working with big pharms to make dirty money, thus they sometimes get beaten and even killed by patients and their family members. Very bad reps and please remember this is not uncommon. 3) This degree is Not convertible to American MD or DO, if you want to practice in America you need to get re-certified. 4) In China, they don't make such from salary. They rely on red pockets from patients and introducing unnecessary drugs and treatments to profit. Be careful
@GonthorianPX3 жыл бұрын
MBBS and MD are basically the exact same thing. But Yes, if you were to move countries you would have to sit entrance exams, not re-do a medical degree..
@danforyou13 жыл бұрын
@@GonthorianPX wrong, MBBS stands for Bachelor of medicine/Bachelor of surgery. That’s 6 years of education and you earn a bachelor, nothing more. In America, any MD/DO will have at the very least 4+4+3=11 years under their belt, surgery is 4+4+7=15 years. There is an obvious difference. By saying MBBS is equivalent to an MD, you are either completely lack of basic knowledge or you simply want to offend all the doctors in America.
@GonthorianPX3 жыл бұрын
@@danforyou1 You do not understand MBBS at all. MBBS qualification is the exact same as an MD or DO. The way it works is MBBS is 6 years which is equivalent to the 4 years of MD or DO. Its 6 years because its undergraduate, meaning you can do it straight from highschool. It does NOT make you a surgeon....... Obviously you have to specialise and go into residency AFTER you graduate your MBBS just like an MD or DO. Im from Australia we have both MD and MBBS here. Although I currently am studying an MD program, I have siblings who are studying an MBBS and they are both equivalent. It doesnt matter if ones a bachelors or one is a masters, they BOTH mean you get the qualification of a medical doctor and then have to go on to intern, residency, fellowship etc.. THey are the same other than the fact of the years required and ones a bachelors and ones a masters. I suggest you actually read up on them. MBBS actually came before MD and DO. the MD program was ADAPTED FROM the MBBS program and created.
@eyeofthetiger60022 жыл бұрын
@@danforyou1 I think you will find that you are wrong. MBBS originates from the UK and China as well as many other countries mainly the Commonwealth countries adopt the British system for their medical degree. There is NO difference in the final degree awarded between an MBBS or MD only the title. In the UK a doctorate degree is normally a 3 years postgraduate research degree so in that sense calling an undergraduate degree in medicine in the US as a doctorate degree is similar to the UK calling a graduate in medicine a Dr despite his degree being only a bachelor's degree.The reason it takes longer in the States to get an MD degree is because it's a graduate entry degree whereas in the UK it's not, you enter straight after high school although some places are also reserved for graduates each year as well.
@imane6922 жыл бұрын
Actually you're wrong, it's the same uk mbbs is the bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery is the same in many countries such as uk, Australie, New Zealand. And qualified the thing is normal to pass and entrance exam to do residency in other countries US or UK or Canada. Even uk doctors have to pass licence exam to be doctor in US.
