So do you have a construction management degree? Im not a huge fan of hard back labor, and ive heard that construction management degrees are useless without working in a construction field first? Is that true? Im 19, and a college student who just finished my core curriculum. On the side, im a leathersmith who enjoys putting effort into something and seeing it come to life; seeing me put something into the world, rather than just take.

Hi! I have a Construction Science degree from Texas A&M. You definitely don’t have to have experience in construction to get a management job. I didn’t and most of the people in my graduating class didn’t. The degree gets you in the door and you just work your way up from there.

@@CodyCockroftthat’s good to hear I’ve been checking your videos out and I’m currently a sophomore majoring in construction management and estimating sounds like a cool job but I only have like 4 months of construction experience and have heard you need to have a lot of experience in construction to be a good estimator. How has it been for you since you graduated not long ago is it something you can learn on the job? Haven’t took estimating class yet in school so not sure lol

Not much math at all. Its a lot of counting, spreadsheets, and talking to people.

I learned from college. The best way to learn without college is to work for a construction/engineering company who can teach you on the side.
