Hahaha Love the homeschooling the chickens! Hens will establish dominance, hence the term "pecking order". They have decided she is the lowest of the group because the first one was dominating her. There are ways to help but they will bicker from time to time to decide who is the leader. We are unpacking - when I find my chicken books I can tell you the titles, mybe it will help. Their new run is so wonderful. Ours would have loved it! (We had 8 back when we had land.) Funny about the zipties, they are fun and so handy!

Thank you Melonia! I would appreciate if you can share those book titles. They were ripping out the feathers on the neck and it was bleeding so bad. We cut off a sock and pulled it on her neck but that didn't help after a while . Chickens are so funny general (when they don't fight lol)🤗💗

This was such an amusing video😁 “ good food and no stress and you still end-up in the nuthouse” you are too funny! We had the exact same problem, our sweetest hen ( Bonnie) got picked-on mercilessly so we would give her free access to the whole yard. We built them a palace too, you are not alone! Love your videos! Since adding the extra space have you tried to combine them all again? If they’re kept in too small of a space as they grow they will start to be more aggressive with each other. Sometimes just the extra space will help! I see other people already mentioned the chicken pecking order but thought I’d throw in the tidbit about their space too. Either way they look happy and well-cared for!!

Hi Noemi. More space is good for chickens. But you may always see squabbles. We used to see the same thing happening and ours we free range on 1/2 an acre! We learned the pecking order squabbles are worse when they don't have enough food and water. Now we have a fenced in area for 8 chickens and two feeding areas so they can stay out of each others way. Such sweet kids, hubby and chickens!! We had a pet chicken Trudy and she was very talkative and also liked to be picked up and snuggled. Had her for four years and then one of our foster dogs attaked her and she died. 😭 We recently got another one I named her Beatrix and she's pretty sweet and talkative too!

It's so neat to watch the chickens mother their babies! Trudy was very special, I think it is quite rare for a chicken to enjoy being held and cuddled!

Chickens are great to own, raise, and enjoy the eggs. The "pecking order" business can be hard. Even after 20+ years of raising birds for meat and for eggs it is still hard to watch and control! You will figure out the best way for you and your folk. Love the videos!

Yes, my friend had chickens and told me they are expensive to set up in habitats etc but said they were really fun to have. Her kids learned so much from having them...compassion, responsibility, gentleness, budgeting, and a bigger appreciation for their food. I hope you are all doing okay in these wildfires! If you do get new chickens someday, I had Buff Orpingtons. Very sweet disposition! They are a beautiful golden color and lay nice big , fat brown eggs !! My daughter in law got 2 lavender Orpingtons this year and they are really pretty too .
