Wow, even though I'm trying the self-taught route for programming, this is almost the exact same routine as my day! Between the starting the day with a podcast, duolingo during breaks, and reading new concepts out loud instead of in my head... Pretty much exactly the same. I think if you're a podcast learner it becomes easier to process new information with an audio element instead of just in your head, which is where the reading out loud comes from. Good luck on your coding journey!

Wow, that's awesome we have similar routines with the podcasts and Duolingo too, haha. 😂 Agree, I love how focused and productive I can be listening to podcasts, but I def do not listen as regularly/long as I want to :P. I recommend The Scrimba Podcast as a casual podcast for us coders! Thank you, good luck on your coding journey as well Jamie! :)

This is cool to watch as a grad from a different code bootcamp (Hack Reactor). Which bootcamp is this? Def not HR as we started at 9am PST (noon for me since I'm eastern) and they made us do a toy problem first thing. 2:36 and 3:24 - code bootcamps are still using Redux in 2022? Oof. Then again wrestling with Redux is probably still a good baptism by fire for global state management... a more current solution like Jotai or Zustand seems like magic by comparison. Also, working with legacy codebases whose owners won't or can't remove/replace Redux just yet.

You make pair work seem so chill! I love seeing it, so inspiring. I wish I could be as natural and..well, coherent while working with someone but my social anxiety/think-fast-babble-words-personality gets in the way. I'm master at making someone feel awkward and confused lmao.
@eggosando.
@eggosando. 2 жыл бұрын
Oh no, I definitely feel the same way! It was a lot more relaxed for me in bootcamp, knowing everyone was all in similar shoes trying to understand the assignment. I am still learning to think through my thoughts first before speaking, but sometimes babbling helps figure out the solution too! Everyone has different styles and I prefer the talkativeness over silence personally :)
@kitcat2449
@kitcat2449 2 жыл бұрын
@@eggosando. ah that makes me feel better haha. Now that I think about it my group/partner and I have always found the solution in the end without bigger problems, so I'm sure that anxiety distorts and dramatizes the whole experience a bit. As you said, everyone is trying to learn so there is no need to be 'perfect' (the next step is to assure the overthinking brain that loll). I'm working on my social skills too, but the progress is slow, so it's nice to see people who handle those situations better than me especially if they happen to be introverts. Keeps me motivated ! Thanks for the video

Just out of curiosity, have you finished your Fullstack Academy journey? And if you have, what are your thoughts regarding the boot camp? Are you content with the outcome of the boot camp (basically did you land a developer position upon completion)? Did you attend college? If you did, what was your major, did you have relevant coding experience prior to joining? I know this is a lot, and any response would be so immensely beneficial as I've been researching various boot camps, assessing whether they're ideal as I pursue my coding journey, too.
@eggosando.
@eggosando. 2 жыл бұрын
Oh no, this is great! Thank you for your questions, I was curious too prior to attending bootcamp. I did finish bootcamp! Bootcamp was great! The coursework was amazing and instructors are the best I've ever had. It helps get you prepared enough to get a job, but doesn't really teach you computer science fundamentals or dives deep enough into one certain area. I did land a job after completion (took about 4 months) and so I am happy with the outcome. I majored in Digital Marketing in college, but I did take a HTML course and Python course as electives.

Hi Alex, sorry for the late reply! I found my first company a few months after graduating. It was hard to get hired for me because I felt the pressure of being unemployed, which played an effect on my sleep. But it's all about trusting the process and finding the fun in learning new things every day. I recommend bootcamps for sure, because of the projects, community, and fast paced learning to jump start your career transition. I hope you ended up trying out bootcamps! Some offer a free pre-course so you can experience how they teach. I went to Fullstack Academy :)

Hi! first of all, thank you for sharing the vid. It helps me to understand what I can expect when I take the bootcamp soon! Can I you a few questions? 1. It seems like you took the course online. If yes, how was your experience? 2. If not, can you give me some tips If I were to take the bootcamp online? (how to get the most out of it) 3. also, I saw in the comment you landed a job after 4 months (congrats!). Can you tell me what you did after finishing the bootcamp to land a job? Thank you so much in advance.
@eggosando.
@eggosando. 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Glad it was helpful! 1. Yess, I took the course fully online! I loved working from the comfort of my own home. All the coursework was already prepared online anyways. It was also really convenient being able to see the screen clearly every day versus looking at code from a screen projector, or however they would've done it. Commuting would have also been rough. But, the group work and breaking the ice part between so many students was harder to do remotely. It would have been fun to plan and code with everyone in person. 2. Hmm, I don't think there is much of a difference between online and in person though in terms of the curriculum! So the usual would have worked fine. Take notes, look at the materials beforehand, take note of things you're confused about so you can ask about it later on, and gathering resources thrown at you. 3. Thank you! The bootcamp career team gave me weekly job hunting requirements I had to do and they would check up on me. I had a routine I tried to follow of applying to many jobs, working on algos, continuing to code (doing projects, hackathons), and networking.
