I 100% support the 16/8 fast. I went from 270 lbs down to a comfortable 190ish (190kg down to 86kg). I tried just fasting first and taking small walks. The walks became longer and longer. Then I started doing pushups each walk in sets of 10 to get my heart pumping. I walked as fast as I possibly could to keep my heart rate up but walking wasn't enough so every time I would feel myself recover, I'd immediately do another 10 pushups. I got to 100 pushups per 2 mile walk and then started jogging the same route and doing pushups in predetermined spots on my route. I started jogging longer and now I'm up to doing my routine twice a day with a total of 8 miles jogging and 400-500 pushups of different styles (diamond, wide, etc.). Never went to the gym during my entire weight loss journey and I feel great. I love my body and can actually take off my shirt without complete embarrassment washing over me. Lost my beer keg gut, strengthened my core A LOT, and toned my muscles. I have broad shoulders so I'm absolutely blown away by how I look. I was always the fat kid from elementary school and stayed fat, miserable, and had no self confidence until I was 25 and decided to do something about it. I have my Dad to thank for all of this because he was a bodybuilder back in the day and when I told him I was nervous about getting a gym membership and going he told me about the pushup/walk/jog routine and said I didn't need one if all I wanted to do was get in shape and lose my gut. You don't need a gym to lose weight!

I like the end "each habits hooks into another habits and create a chain of habits". It sums up really well the programmer life and mentally here. At the end if you want to be a developer yourself be prepared to act your life as actual code running like a foreach loop. Kind of funny to say like that but it's kind of true in a way. Programming is also about optimizing stuff so in the end you're trying to optimize your life as well.
@tomassantos68753 жыл бұрын
I love how this guy keeps everything so real... I see the "day in the life of a programmer" of other people and makes me so confused the message that they try to give us... Anyways, big up to you, great vid and yeh, you just gain a new subscriber

First Meeting "Daily Standup" (15-30m) - 10:15 "tech daily" meeting. More teams gather and have a daily standup but with multiple teams. (15m) - 10:30 Time to code. PO asks me if I have 5 minutes... OK, another meeting with PO - 11:00 A meeting about some project stuff (1h) - 12:00 - 13:00 break - 13:00 A various kind of meeting. Could be continuation of the meeting from 11:00 or Retrospective (takes at least 2h) - 15:00 Time to code... very tired, I usually take 15m nap. - 15:15 Work - 16:00 PO asks me "Do you have 5 minutes?" he likes to talk... sometimes 2h - 18:00 I did literally nothing, I feel guilty, what will I say tomorrow in daily standup? They will think I am stupid that I was not able to work?... Thats the time when I sometimes start to work overtime, sometimes until 22pm. Sometimes on the weekends.. :( This shit is very depressing. I used to work as a freelancer or just for me like Hallden, and it was fun. But working for someone, especially "agile" is very depressing. I am already searching for a new job but nowadays most of the companies want to be "hip" and use agile or other crazy faang soul crushing methodologies.

I can, but that's common for me to figure out something out of nowhere, that solves my daily coding problems during it and basically in any random moment of a day

speak for your self! this is not even close to my day as a Programmer, its more like this while(true) { Wake up: 9:30 (work starts at 9:00) Meetings: (zoom): 10:00-10:20 (stand ups) Meetings: (zoom): 10:30-11:30 (story refinements) Work: 11:30-13:00 (mostly opening intellij, email, slack/teams, and watching new stuff on youtube) Lunch: 13:00-14:00 (mostly forget these as im watching youtube still) Actual Lunch: 14:00-15:00 Work: 15:00-18:00 (where I spend most of my time working on actual code, waiting for ci/cd and helping others over teams) Work End Phase: 18:00-19:00 (this is where I transition from work mindset to idgaf mindset, normally watch youtube) Personal Projects: 19:00-00:00 (this is where I actually do what I like to do, make bots to help me with games) Attempt to sleep 1: 00:00-01:00 (thinking of code and other code related things) Attempt to sleep 2: 01:00-02:00 (dog keeps me awake) Fixing bugs: 02:00-09:30 (dreaming about working and fixing bugs and other code related things) }

Kalle, please share your opinion. How difficult can it be for a non IT guy to start from Python at 28 if there's not any single experience in coding ? Which part of development in Python takes Math, knowledge of maths ? Is it a crucial thing if you want to achieve something in Python or not too much ? And does it make sense to go in Swift after Python? Maybe becoming a fullstack in those 2 langs ? Can Swift be a better choice if math is not a strong side ? Thanks a lot !

i'm 26 been doing programming for about 6 months now and it was very intimidating at first but its not super math heavy except for a few parts and you can use the web to gain information about that knowledge! go for it!!!! I'm thrilled I switched my career path and its not as difficult as it seems once you start to understanding the basics and the terminology

@@troyrandall5396 thanks for your reply! I went with Swift eventually and it’s about 6 months as step by step I dig into it. It’s not an easy thing for sure but with patience and constant training it sinks in. I hope we will both do well in coding, my friend ! Cheers!
