Honestly, you're probably safe with any decent computer, you don't need a macbook to do coding, you just need something with enough space to hold files and something that is decently fast (I tried buying a crappy laptop from my friend, and I could barely surf the internet with it, so don't use something like that since you'll probably be doing lots of stuff on it!) I've seen a few programmers with Surface Pro's or Surface Laptops because you can write your notes on the touchscreen and also use it as a computer, so that's a good Option, if you have the money for it, I realize they are quite a lot, I justify the price by saying that I'll be using it all the time for at least the length of the program. I have an Ipad pro, and I use it around 8 hours a day, but I haven't tried using it for coding and I don't think it will be a good choice for that since it is NOT a real laptop, much as apple would like to market it as such (there aren't a lot of options for coding programs on IPads currently.) I just use my home computer or computers at the school for programming. If you don't mind having something stationary, you could also build a computer, which can be cheaper than buying something ready made. It's quite easy to do and you can find videos on youtube with different priced builds and they show you how to put it together, and then you can spend exactly how much you want on a computer that you'll like. The bonus with that option is that as you graduate and have more money, you can upgrade the computer into a better machine. Hope this helps :)
