@@thisismyanon1005 I'm a recently-joined lifetime member of the PHA, I presented at their annual conference in 2019, and I'm presenting at the FANHS conference next month. My master's thesis is on a very particular topic in Philippine American War memory. Wherever you are, I'm sure you have access to great databases and strong faculty support but if I can be of help in any way possible (bib recommendation, etc.) please don't hesitate to reach out. Our field is so small, we have to stick together! -Eric

Just found your channel and subscribed! I'm going to be starting my PhD in English in August, so I've been looking around KZbin for PhD channels. I'm glad I found yours! Even though you're doing your PhD in history, I think there are definitely some parallels. I'm going to binge-watch all your videos now. Hah 😄 P.S. I just realized you go to OSU, and that was my very first acceptance and first admissions decision! I've been to Columbus before, but never to the actual campus. It looks like such a nice campus from the videos I've seen. I think it's definitely on the top of my list, but I'm still waiting on about eight more schools 🤞

Do you think there should be more TV shows that take place in grad school because there's some many teen shows? I have ideas for college shows. Comedies like Victorious or Friends, action/fighting, mystery-drama, drama's like "the O.C". , suspense maybe like "Riverdale" or "Mr.Robot", sci-fi like "Roswell" or "Smallville" , and even romance stories

Did you go to grad school immediately after undergrad? I'm finishing undergrad soon and I'm considering going to grad school. I love history and I definitely want to study it more, but at the point where I'm at right now I'm burned out of school. I'm just scared to take a long break and then begin my studies again.

I took one year off between undergrad and masters, and then one year off between masters and PhD to apply. Time off is good and important, but I (personally) wouldn't take too long of a break or it would be harder to get back into studying. That said!! There are several people in my program who had breaks of 5-10 years before returning to grad school.

Hi It's been a long time since I was in undergrad so I don't know how much I could help on this topic! I don't think my school was any kind of top rated school for history - I think that matters less for undergrad. I would say start by finding schools you are already interested in and then take a look at their liberal arts department! Within the history department you can also see what the professors teach. if you already know you are interested in European history and there aren't too many professors who have that specialty, I would look elsewhere

It all depends on the subject and how you work as an individual. I typical work 9 hours per day during the week and 5 hours per day on the weekend

Hey! Your research is very interesting. I notice you did reading notes, I’d like to ask, if I may, how do you do reading notes? I always end up jotting lots of things down, I feel it’s tiring and useless. How’s yours ?

I usually end up writing waayy too many notes- but I'm currently using Microsoft OneNote, and I write down the place, time period, and topic of the book first, then the organization of the book, and then identify the argument, key themes and concepts, and historiography, methodology and sources! Then as I read through, I note the main argument of each chapter!

Hi! I took a variety of history classes in undergrad. Each school does it differently though - I didn't have a specific area concentration, and took classes ranging from European History, writing seminars, the US Civil War, Texas history, and German history!

Hi, for a PhD in History you need to first identify which schools you would like to apply to and which professors you would like to work with - then contact the schools to determine their process. It varies by school!
