What did I just watch 🤣🤣 was entertaining for sure 😅 you check super heat and sub cool to see if the unit is charged properly. You do not go based on pressures. Different temperatures plus humidity levels will give you different pressures…. Pressures could look good but the unit maybe be actually undercharged. Sub cool with a TXV and Superheat with a piston. I usually check both anyway regardless if it’s a piston or a txv since if the unit is charged properly, both coils are clean, air flow is good and no restrictions then both should be within range. In regard to the cap…. You can have a brand new cap go out the next day…. Caps life depends on the conditions it’s in. To much heat on it and it’ll go fairly quick. Power flickers/surges could also easily take out a cap.

Why would you Guage up if there isn't an issue. Every time you guage up, you lose rfg.

I’ll give him that…. He’s right to check pressures…. He’s there for an inspection so if I was a customer I’d like to know if I’m charged right as well. He needs to be better at putting them on that’s all. You definitely do not want to go just by the split either. I’ve seen many many many units having the most beautiful split but that was because they were on the verge of freezing up. Super heat and sub cool is what needs to be checked while checking pressures.

Can someone who knows about electricity and wiring please clarify whether this was done 1) so well that an amateur could only have done it if there was a bad experience they wanted to avoid at all costs or 2) so poorly that the whole system malfunctioning catastrophically was simply inevitable? (Based on the rest of the comments section, I'm leaning more towards 2, but the results are not totally conclusive.)
