Have been doing this for over a decade now and undoubtedly it changed my life for good in ways I simply can't state in a few couple of words here. Please just be careful with your health. Don't neglect with it specially when it comes to food, exercise and sleep. During check-up exams I found a plaque sitting at my main coronary artery. Hopefully I'm still young and found it in a timely way that I can treat it, otherwise it'd simply risk me a long term myocardial infarctation which could simply drop me dead anywhere around my age.

So you work like from 9 am till 7pm! That’s A LOT of hours! Do you work overtime ? How do you handle it ?
@codinggirl_ Жыл бұрын
From the legal point of view, I should work 8 hours per day. In France, there’s a 35-hours week (making in 7 hours per day). And by additional 10 vacation days per year (RTT days) I’m supposed to work 40 hours/week. So basically it should be from 9 to 6 (having 1h per lunch and 8 hours of work). Sometimes I have longer lunches, or chat with colleagues (like it was the day I filmed), or if I’m really interested in the task and don’t feel tired - why not staying more to improve my skills ? ;)
@Danuxsy Жыл бұрын
@@codinggirl_ because the company you work for doesn't care about you so why would you stay to work even harder? They will replace you as soon as AI technology is sufficient enough. Look at the mass lay-offs that happened in the large tech companies last year, over 150k lost their jobs just like that.
@codinggirl_ Жыл бұрын
@@Danuxsy simply cause when you don’t work hard you won’t have enough skills to find a new job 😉
@Danuxsy Жыл бұрын
@@codinggirl_ If you support UBI then there won't be a reason for you to have another job, of course we aren't there yet but automation will continue to occur at faster rates so sure you might have a job today but capitalism work against you since it relies on increasing profits year by year, so the job pool will shrink and the competence required for a job will increase as a result. The only way to combat this is to dismantle the entire system itself which is where we are heading. The only winners in a capitalism system are the elite.

@@codinggirl_ I feel like people in the comments, usually North Americans, tend to forget that in most of western EU countries, workers' rights are highly protected. Working 40h/w is in no way, shape or form "overworking" when you consider the rights that come with it, that is paid vacation days, paid sick days, paid maternal / paternal leave, etc etc. In addition to that, working more to learn more skills is beneficial to the employee as well, regardless of whether the "company does not care about you".

Very sad life indeed... Working under an artificial light is a killer for developer's eyes, it just takes 2 to 3 years to damage them . Also you stay all day in heavily EMF polluted environment (so many wireless devices ) - learn to use cables and ethernet as many software developers have lost their lives due to cancer because of that. Finally if you do not see many old people around you in the office start thinking now where are they and what will happen to you after few years - it is not a joke! Young people are not smarter - they are just more naive. If you do not see the old developers around, it is a clear sign that you are currently misused by this company. Never forget that!
